صرح مفوض التجارة في الاتحاد الأوروبي ماروش شيفتشوفيتش، أن التكتل يعد قائمة رسوم جمركية إضافية على الواردات من الولايات المتحدة بقيمة 72 مليار يورو (84 مليار دولار) في أعقاب الرسوم الجديدة التي أعلن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب اعتزامه فرضها على منتجات الاتحاد الأوروبي اعتباراً من أول أغسطس القادم.
في الوقت نفسه، مازال الاتحاد الأوروبي يأمل في الوصول إلى حل تفاوضي مع واشنطن بشأن اختلالات الميزان التجاري بين الولايات المتحدة والتكتل، والرسوم الجمركية المرتفعة.
وفي خطاب إلى المفوضية الأوروبية، أوضح الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، أخيراً، أنه يعتزم فرض رسوم جمركية بنسبة 30% على أغلب واردات الولايات المتحدة من الاتحاد الأوروبي اعتباراً من أول أغسطس.
واجتمع وزراء خارجية الاتحاد الأوروبي اليوم؛ لمناقشة سبل الرد على أحدث إعلانات ترمب وتجهيز قائمة إجراءات مضادة.
وتستند القائمة التي تم تقديمها إلى الدول الأعضاء في الاتحاد الأوروبي، إلى مقترحٍ قدّمته المفوضية الأوروبية في مايو الماضي، وكانت تغطي في البداية بشكلٍ رئيسيّ السلع الصناعية والزراعية، بحجم وارداتٍ يُقارب 95 مليار يورو.
وبعد مشاوراتٍ مع العواصم وممثلي الصناعة، تم تعديل القائمة. ولم يُقدّم شيفتشوفيتش أيّ تفاصيلٍ حول السلع التي تم رفعها من القائمة.
وكان كبير المفاوضين التجاريين في الاتحاد الأوروبي ماروش شيفتشوفيتش قد حذر من أن الرسوم الجمركية الأمريكية المعلنة بنسبة 30% على واردات الاتحاد الأوروبي من شأنها أن تؤثر بشدة على التجارة وسلاسل التوريد عبر الأطلسي.
وقال مفوض التجارة بالاتحاد الأوروبي ماروش شيفتشوفيتش: «بشأن زيادة الرسوم الجمركية المقررة اعتباراً من الأول من أغسطس القادم، سيكون هناك تأثير هائل على التجارة، وسيكون من شبه المستحيل مواصلة التجارة كما اعتدنا في العلاقات عبر الأطلسي».
وأكد شيفتشوفيتش -الذي يقود فريق التفاوض الأوروبي في النزاع التجاري مع واشنطن- أن الرسوم الجمركية الأمريكية تُعيق التجارة.
وأضاف أن الاتحاد الأوروبي أظهر مرونة كبيرة من أجل إيجاد الحلول مع الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بشأن زيادة الرسوم الجمركية، لما فيه مصلحة لجميع الأطراف.

The European Union's Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic stated that the bloc is preparing a list of additional tariffs on imports from the United States worth €72 billion ($84 billion) following the new tariffs announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, which he intends to impose on European Union products starting from August 1.
At the same time, the European Union still hopes to reach a negotiated solution with Washington regarding the trade imbalance between the United States and the bloc, as well as the high tariffs.
In a letter to the European Commission, U.S. President Donald Trump recently clarified that he intends to impose a 30% tariff on most U.S. imports from the European Union starting August 1.
EU foreign ministers met today to discuss ways to respond to Trump's latest announcements and prepare a list of countermeasures.
The list presented to EU member states is based on a proposal made by the European Commission last May, which initially mainly covered industrial and agricultural goods, with imports amounting to nearly €95 billion.
After consultations with capitals and industry representatives, the list was amended. Sefcovic did not provide any details about the goods that were removed from the list.
The EU's chief trade negotiator Maros Sefcovic warned that the announced 30% U.S. tariffs on EU imports would severely impact transatlantic trade and supply chains.
EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic said: "Regarding the increase in tariffs set to take effect from August 1, there will be a huge impact on trade, and it will be nearly impossible to continue trading as we have in transatlantic relations."
Sefcovic, who leads the European negotiating team in the trade dispute with Washington, confirmed that U.S. tariffs hinder trade.
He added that the European Union has shown great flexibility in seeking solutions with the United States regarding the increase in tariffs, in the interest of all parties.
