The Jordanian Minister of Industry and Trade, Ya'rob Al-Qudat, announced that more than 400 Jordanian trucks enter Syria daily loaded with Jordanian products, in addition to transit trucks.
Al-Qudat said during the second conference on industry, investment, and the reconstruction of Syria: "The increase in exports to Syria has contributed to a rise in the number of containers handled by the Port of Aqaba, which has seen a 30% increase in demand."
He pointed out that there are discussions in coordination with relevant authorities to reactivate transit trade to various countries, including communication between the Syrian and Turkish sides to activate the Bab al-Hawa crossing located between Turkey and Syria, through which exports can transit to Europe and beyond.
Al-Qudat called on the Jordanian private sector to take advantage of the available economic opportunities in Syria, especially in the fields of export, noting that there are government committees to enhance cooperation in areas of trade, transport, administrative and technical infrastructure, water, and agriculture. He stated that the growth rate of the Jordanian economy reached 2.7% during the first quarter of the current year, despite expectations that the rate would be 2.2%.
He clarified that Jordanian exports increased by approximately 9.2% during the first five months of the current year.
