فيصل بن سلمان يرعى تدشين مشروع تحقيق «تاريخ الطبري»

The special advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Abdulaziz Foundation, Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, sponsored the launch ceremony of the project to publish the book of Imam Abu Ja'far Muhammad bin Jarir al-Tabari titled “The History of Kings and Their News and the Births of the Messengers and Their Prophets,” organized by the foundation at the main theater of the Riyadh International Book Fair 2025 at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.

Upon his arrival, the royal anthem was played, followed by a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. The attendees then watched a documentary film that covered the journey of the project, followed by a speech from the CEO of the foundation, Turki bin Muhammad al-Shuwair, in which he emphasized that the project embodies the foundation's mission to preserve the historical memory of the nation and provide its sources according to the highest standards of scientific research. He highlighted that the work took many years of research effort, involving a select group of researchers and scholars to present a solid text worthy of Imam al-Tabari's status and his methodology in documenting history.

Then Dr. Bashar Awad Ma'ruf (the book's editor) delivered a speech in which he highlighted the historical value of the book and the importance of its publication according to the principles of scientific editing, pointing out its distinguished status among the major sources relied upon by historians throughout the ages. He affirmed that the new edition was based on the oldest and most reliable manuscripts, ensuring a scientifically edited text that contributes to enriching the Arabic and Islamic library.

Following that, Prince Faisal bin Salman officially launched the edited version of the book, in a step that reflected the King Abdulaziz Foundation's commitment to pioneering scientific projects, amidst praise from the attendees, including researchers and academics, who considered this project a qualitative addition to the service of Islamic history and the facilitation of its original sources for researchers.
