The Egyptian artist Mai Kassab admitted that excessive trust in some people led to her experiencing harsh shocks, explaining that there are experiences she went through that still have a significant psychological impact on her, after she granted people a status greater than they deserved.
Kassab revealed during her appearance on the program "Mirror" that she went through a tough phase where she wished to enter the Abbassia Hospital and undergo electric shock sessions in an attempt to rid herself of painful memories, explaining that her spontaneity and good faith in others led her to face situations she never expected.
Friends Who Became Strangers
Kassab explained that some of the people who caused her shock were close to her, to the extent that she did not treat them merely as friends, but granted them the status of a second family. She was keen to support them and stand by their side, but later discovered attempts to involve her in matters that did not concern her, which prompted her to end these relationships and distance herself from their owners completely, confirming that they are outside the artistic community.
"Forgiveness Does Not Mean Returning"
Kassab confirmed that losing trust makes it difficult to restore relationships, even if the other party offers an apology, noting that some people tried to return to her life, but she could not grant them the same trust.
She explained that she is capable of forgiveness, but she does not see that pardon necessarily means bringing the person back into her life, preferring in some cases to set clear boundaries and end the relationship without entering into a long reproach.
Consulting Specialists
In another aspect, Kassab talked about her role in supporting those around her, explaining that she is used to listening to their problems and trying to help them, but she also needs to seek advice when she faces pressures or situations that are difficult for her to handle alone.
She revealed that she consults marriage counselors and several religious leaders to get opinions related to her life and family, confirming that she does not find it embarrassing to seek advice and communicate with experienced individuals via phone or video calls.
A Wish to Stay Away from the Spotlight
The Egyptian artist also revealed a personal wish she holds on to, which is to one day distance herself from art and fame and devote herself to worship, affirming that this desire is still present within her, and that the spotlight has never been a primary goal in her life.
She clarified that retirement, if she decides on it in the future, will be a personal choice that does not require her husband, the singer Oka, to make the same decision, emphasizing that their relationship is based on respecting each other's freedom in their choices and decisions.
