In a tragedy that shocked the global artistic community and cast a dark shadow over fans of talent shows, Dutch singer Ben Saunders, the first winner of "The Voice" in its history, was found dead in one of the lakes, ending the star's life abruptly at the age of 43.
The incident, which confused local circles, began following an urgent report that led to the intervention of security teams and the retrieval of the late artist's body from the waters of the "Reikersveerdesche Plassen" recreational lake in the city of Elst. While mystery surrounds the final moments of his life, the police leadership in East Holland quickly issued an initial security statement ruling out any suspicion of criminal activity behind the incident, while continuing medical investigations to determine the final explanation for the death.
The tragedy left an emotional shock for the late artist's family, as his brother Dean mourned him with words filled with pain, saying: "My little brother passed away today... I have never felt such pain before, and we have to learn how to live with this wound," while his former coach on the show, artist Marco Borsato, bid him farewell by posting an exceptional musical clip of the late artist accompanied by symbols of broken hearts.
Ben Saunders is considered the true starting point for the "The Voice" phenomenon around the world, having etched his name as the first winner of the title in the inaugural Dutch version in 2011, a resounding success that later opened the door for the expansion of the concept and the launch of more than 150 international versions in various languages, leaving the owner of the golden voice to depart life, leaving behind a prominent artistic legacy and investigations that have not yet closed their files.
