A new crisis suddenly erupted in the artistic community, awakening an old rivalry between stars Mohamed Ramadan and Ahmed El Fishawy. However, this time the confrontation has officially moved beyond mere exchanges of sarcastic songs and titles on social media, transitioning to the "sets" of filming and the anticipated cinematic race.
The heated controversy ignited immediately upon revealing that both artists are preparing for a new film bearing the same name "Number One," which sparked a state of astonishment and curiosity about the reason behind both parties' insistence on this particular title.
In his first decisive response, screenwriter Mohamed Said Bashir, the author of Mohamed Ramadan's film, clarified that the name of the work is not a recent development; it has been officially registered in the censorship papers for artistic works for a long time. It has already passed the idea stage and entered the preparation and execution plan before being temporarily postponed due to the massive production budget and scheduling coordination. Bashir expressed his deep astonishment at the attempt to launch another work under the same previously agreed-upon and registered name, affirming the team's insistence on their right to the name.
On the other hand, screenwriter Sherif Abdel Hadi, the author of Ahmed El Fishawy's film, downplayed the tension surrounding the name, emphasizing that cinematic success primarily depends on the strength of the script, direction, and the actors' prowess, rather than just an attractive title.
The El Fishawy team confirmed that they have no issue changing the film's name if regulatory and legal circumstances necessitate it, considering that the work does not hinge on a single word, and that the most important goal is to present a distinctive artistic experience.
This cinematic dispute recalls the beginning of the artistic rivalry that started about six years ago when Mohamed Ramadan established the title "Number One" in a famous song, prompting Ahmed El Fishawy to shock everyone with a competing song titled "Number 2," which was followed by mutual musical responses such as the song "The Tank."
Although the exchange later softened with friendly messages between the two parties, the choice of the title "Number One" again reopens the file: Will the censorship determine the precedence of intellectual property in favor of Mohamed Ramadan, or will Ahmed El Fishawy change his course and reveal a new title?
