يروي آل مشوط، وهو أحد الناجين من غرق العبارة، في الفيلم تفاصيل المأساة التي أودت بحياة أكثر من 1000 شخص في البحر الأحمر في 2006.
وكشف في تصريحات إعلامية، تفاصيل العمل السينمائي الجديد، مشيراً إلى أن فيلم «سفينة الموت» دخل مراحل متقدمة من التطوير، مع قرب الانتهاء من كتابة السيناريو، استعداداً لبدء الإنتاج بقيادة المخرج السعودي محمد الملا.
100 مليون ريال
وأشار إلى أن ميزانية العمل تتجاوز 100 مليون ريال سعودي، ويجري تصويره داخل مشروع البحر الأحمر واستديوهات الحصن، مؤكداً أن السيناريو يمر بمراحله الأخيرة، فيما تواصل الجهة المنتجة دراسة عدد من عروض التمويل المطروحة، وستُعلن رسمياً تفاصيل الإنتاج والجهة الممولة في الأيام القادمة.
بطولة ناصر الدوسري
وأوضح أن شخصية البطل في الفيلم سيؤديها الفنان ناصر الدوسري، إذ سيقدم القصة برؤية سينمائية سعودية ومعايير إنتاج عالمية.
ووصف آل مشوط كتابة رواية «سفينة الموت» بأنها كانت أصعب من أي تجربة عاشها بعد نجاته، إذ اضطر إلى استعادة تفاصيل الكارثة بكل ما حملته من خوف وفقد وألم.
وقال: «كنت أشعر ببرودة البحر وكأنني أغرق من جديد، وتوقفت عن الكتابة ثلاث مرات بسبب ثقل الذكريات، ثم انعزلت أسبوعاً كاملاً حتى تمكنت من إنهائها».
وأضاف: «آثار الكارثة لم تتوقف عند صفحات الرواية، بل لازمتني حتى في لقاءاتي الإعلامية، إذ اضطررت في أحد البرامج التلفزيونية إلى مقاطعة الحوار بعدما غلبتني مشاعر الحادثة».

Al Mushawt, who is one of the survivors of the ferry sinking, recounts in the film the details of the tragedy that claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people in the Red Sea in 2006.
He revealed in media statements details about the new cinematic work, indicating that the film "Ship of Death" has entered advanced stages of development, with the screenplay nearing completion, in preparation for production led by Saudi director Mohammed Al Mulla.
100 Million Riyals
He noted that the budget for the project exceeds 100 million Saudi Riyals, and it is being filmed within the Red Sea project and Al Hosn Studios, confirming that the screenplay is in its final stages, while the production team continues to study several financing offers, and the details of the production and the funding entity will be officially announced in the coming days.
Starring Nasser Al Dosari
He explained that the lead character in the film will be played by artist Nasser Al Dosari, who will present the story with a Saudi cinematic vision and global production standards.
Al Mushawt described writing the novel "Ship of Death" as more difficult than any experience he lived through after his survival, as he had to recall the details of the disaster with all its fear, loss, and pain.
He said: "I felt the coldness of the sea as if I were drowning again, and I stopped writing three times because of the weight of the memories, then I isolated myself for a whole week until I was able to finish it."
He added: "The effects of the disaster did not stop at the pages of the novel, but followed me even in my media appearances, as I had to interrupt the conversation in one television program after the emotions of the incident overwhelmed me."
