قضت هيئة محلفين في ولاية نيفادا الأمريكية أمس (الجمعة) بإدانة الممثل الأمريكي ناثان تشاسينج هورس، المعروف بمشاركته في فيلم «الرقص مع الذئاب»، بتهمة الاعتداء الجنسي على قاصر، في قضية صدمت مجتمع السكان الأصليين في الولايات المتحدة.
وأوضحت هيئة الادعاء أن معظم الأحكام الصادرة ضد تشاسينج هورس تتعلق بسلوكياته تجاه فتاة كانت تبلغ من العمر 14 عاماً عند بدء الاعتداء عليها، مشيرة إلى أنه استغل سمعته ومكانته كرجل من شعب لاكوتا لاستدراج ضحايا من النساء والفتيات من المجتمع نفسه.
ورغم إدانته بتهم متعددة، برأت هيئة المحلفين تشاسينج هورس من تهم اعتداء جنسي أخرى، بينما يصر الممثل على براءته من جميع التهم الـ21 الموجهة إليه، وفق ما أكد محاموه.
وتأتي هذه الأحكام بعد سنوات من التحقيقات والمحاكمات منذ اعتقاله الأول وتوجيه التهم إليه عام 2023، في قضية أثارت صدمة واسعة داخل المجتمع الأمريكي للسكان الأصليين.
وسلطت القضية الضوء على موضوع استغلال النفوذ والمكانة في المجتمعات المحلية، وأعادت النقاش حول حماية الفتيات القاصرات من الاعتداء الجنسي في الولايات المتحدة.
A jury in the U.S. state of Nevada yesterday (Friday) convicted American actor Nathan Chasing Horse, known for his role in the film "Dances with Wolves," of sexually assaulting a minor, in a case that shocked the Native American community in the United States.
The prosecution explained that most of the charges against Chasing Horse relate to his behavior towards a girl who was 14 years old when the abuse began, noting that he exploited his reputation and status as a man from the Lakota people to lure victims from women and girls within the same community.
Despite being convicted on multiple charges, the jury acquitted Chasing Horse of other sexual assault charges, while the actor maintains his innocence regarding all 21 charges against him, as confirmed by his attorneys.
These convictions come after years of investigations and trials since his initial arrest and the charges brought against him in 2023, in a case that has caused widespread shock within the Native American community in the U.S.
