أسدلت محكمة النقض المصرية الستار على قضية الفنان الشعبي سعد الصغير، بعدما أصدرت حكماً نهائياً، اليوم (الأحد)، برفض الطعن المقدم من دفاعه وتأييد حكم حبسه لمدة 6 أشهر في قضية حيازة مواد مخدرة بقصد التعاطي أثناء مروره بتفتيش الحقائب في مطار القاهرة الدولي.
وجاء الحكم ليصبح باتاً وغير قابل للطعن، بعدما أيدت المحكمة قرار محكمة جنايات مستأنف شمال القاهرة، التي كانت قد خففت العقوبة من السجن 3 سنوات (أصدرتها محكمة أول درجة في نوفمبر الماضي) إلى 6 أشهر فقط مراعاة للظروف الاجتماعية والإنسانية للفنان.
وتعود الواقعة إلى الـ10 من سبتمبر 2024 حين جرى ضبط سعد الصغير أثناء عودته من الخارج، وبحوزته كمية من الحشيش والترامادول، ووجهت إليه النيابة العامة تهمة حيازة مواد مخدرة «بقصد التعاطي في غير الأحوال المصرح بها قانوناً».
وأكدت المحكمة في حيثياتها أن تخفيف العقوبة لا يعني التساهل مع الجريمة، بل يهدف إلى إعطاء فرصة للإصلاح والتقويم، مشيرة إلى أن فترة الحبس كافية لردع المتهم عن تكرار السلوك ذاته مستقبلاً.
وشغلت القضية الرأي العام المصري منذ شهور، وأعادت الجدل حول ظاهرة تعاطي المخدرات بين المشاهير ومسؤولية الفنانين في تقديم القدوة للجمهور، خصوصاً في ظل انتشار القضايا المشابهة داخل الوسط الفني المصري.
The Egyptian Court of Cassation has drawn the curtain on the case of the popular artist Saad El-Soghayar, after it issued a final ruling today (Sunday) rejecting the appeal submitted by his defense and upholding his six-month prison sentence in a case of drug possession for personal use during a luggage inspection at Cairo International Airport.
The ruling has become final and unappealable, after the court upheld the decision of the North Cairo Appeals Criminal Court, which had reduced the sentence from three years (issued by the first-degree court last November) to just six months, taking into account the social and humanitarian circumstances of the artist.
The incident dates back to September 10, 2024, when Saad El-Soghayar was apprehended upon his return from abroad, found in possession of a quantity of hashish and tramadol. The Public Prosecution charged him with possession of narcotic substances "for personal use in circumstances not legally permitted."
The court confirmed in its reasoning that reducing the sentence does not mean leniency towards the crime, but rather aims to provide an opportunity for reform and rehabilitation, noting that the period of imprisonment is sufficient to deter the accused from repeating the same behavior in the future.
The case has occupied public opinion in Egypt for months and has reignited the debate over the phenomenon of drug use among celebrities and the responsibility of artists to set an example for the public, especially in light of the spread of similar cases within the Egyptian artistic community.
