أعلنت هيئة الأفلام عن اختيار الفيلم الروائي «هجرة» لتمثيل السعودية رسمياً في سباق جوائز الأوسكار الـ98 عن فئة أفضل فيلم دولي، وذلك بعد عملية تقييم دقيقة شملت عدداً من أبرز الإنتاجات السينمائية السعودية، بإشراف لجنة اختيار الفيلم السعودي للأوسكار التي ضمت نخبة من أبرز صُنّاع السينما والخبراء السعوديين، عملوا على مراجعة الأعمال المتقدمة واختيار الفيلم المرشح استناداً إلى معايير أكاديمية فنون وعلوم الصور المتحركة (الأوسكار).
وشهدت دورة هذا العام مشاركة واسعة لأفلام سعودية لافتة، ما تطلّب دراسة معمقة ومداولات مكثفة انتهت إلى اختيار «هجرة» لتمثيل المملكة في هذا المحفل السينمائي العالمي.
ويقدّم فيلم «هجرة» رؤية فنية وإنسانية تعكس ثراء الهوية السعودية وتنوع قصصها المحلية، من خلال حبكة درامية تتمحور حول رحلة ثلاث نساء سعوديات من أجيال مختلفة إلى مكة المكرمة لأداء فريضة الحج، غير أن الرحلة الروحية تتحوّل إلى مأساة باختفاء سارة قبل الوصول إلى مكة، لتبدأ الجدة والحفيدة رحلة بحث شاقة تكشف أسراراً عائلية دفينة وتبرز الفجوة بين الأجيال النسائية، في معالجة بصرية مؤثرة من إخراج شهد أمين، وبمشاركة نخبة من المواهب السعودية الصاعدة إلى جانب أسماء بارزة في المشهد السينمائي المحلي، يخوض الفيلم منافسة قوية مع عشرات الأفلام من مختلف دول العالم ضمن فئة أفضل فيلم دولي، حيث يمر بمراحل تقييم عدة تبدأ بإعلان القائمة الأولية، ثم القائمة النهائية التي تحددها الأكاديمية لاحقاً. ومن المقرر أن يُعلن عن الفائز بجائزة أفضل فيلم دولي خلال حفل الأوسكار الـ98 الذي سيقام على مسرح دولبي في مدينة لوس أنجلوس خلال مارس 2026، وسط ترقب عالمي للحدث الأبرز في صناعة السينما.
The Film Authority announced the selection of the feature film "Migration" to officially represent Saudi Arabia in the race for the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. This decision came after a thorough evaluation process that included several of the most prominent Saudi cinematic productions, supervised by the committee responsible for selecting the Saudi film for the Oscars, which comprised a distinguished group of leading filmmakers and experts from Saudi Arabia. They reviewed the submitted works and chose the nominated film based on the criteria of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars).
This year's edition witnessed wide participation from remarkable Saudi films, necessitating in-depth study and intensive deliberations that culminated in the selection of "Migration" to represent the Kingdom at this global cinematic event.
The film "Migration" presents an artistic and humanistic vision that reflects the richness of Saudi identity and the diversity of its local stories, through a dramatic plot centered around the journey of three Saudi women from different generations to Mecca to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. However, the spiritual journey turns into a tragedy with the disappearance of Sarah before reaching Mecca, leading the grandmother and granddaughter on a challenging search that uncovers buried family secrets and highlights the generational gap among women. This is portrayed in a moving visual treatment directed by Shahd Amin, featuring a selection of rising Saudi talents alongside prominent names in the local cinematic scene. The film faces strong competition with dozens of films from various countries in the Best International Feature Film category, going through several evaluation stages that begin with the announcement of the preliminary list, followed by the final list determined by the Academy later. The winner of the Best International Feature Film award is set to be announced during the 98th Academy Awards ceremony, which will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles in March 2026, amidst global anticipation for the most significant event in the film industry.
