يشارك الفيلم السعودي «المجهولة» للمخرجة هيفاء المنصور في الدورة الخامسة لمهرجان تورنتو السينمائي الدولي ضمن قسم «Centerpiece» الذي يحتفي بالأصوات السينمائية الجريئة من حول العالم.
وينتمي الفيلم إلى فئة أفلام الجريمة والتشويق المعاصر، وتدور أحداثه حول العثور على جثة فتاة مراهقة في منطقة صحراوية نائية، من دون أن يُطالب بها أحد.
ويُعد «المجهولة» الفيلم الروائي الطويل الثالث للمخرجة هيفاء المنصور، بعد فيلمها الرائد «وجدة» (2012)، أول فيلم سعودي طويل من إخراج امرأة، وفيلم «المرشحة المثالية» (2018) الذي مثّل المملكة في عدة مهرجانات عالمية.
ويشهد هذا العمل التعاون الثاني بين المنصور والممثلة السعودية ميلا الزهراني، بعد أن أدت دور البطولة في «المرشحة المثالية»؛ ويشارك في البطولة أيضًا كل من شافي الحارثي وعزيز الغرباوي.
وأكدت المخرجة المنصور، في تصريحات إعلامية بأن فيلم «المجهولة» يشكل تجربة مختلفة عن أعمالها السابقة. وأضافت «أردت من خلال (المجهولة)، تقديم فيلم يوازي بين البُعد الجماهيري والطابع الفني، ويطرح قصة نسائية مشوّقة تعكس واقع التغيير الذي نعيشه في السعودية».
The Saudi film "The Unknown," directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour, is participating in the fifth edition of the Toronto International Film Festival in the "Centerpiece" section, which celebrates bold cinematic voices from around the world.
The film belongs to the contemporary crime and thriller genre, and its plot revolves around the discovery of a teenage girl's body in a remote desert area, without anyone claiming her.
"The Unknown" is the third feature film by director Haifaa Al-Mansour, following her groundbreaking film "Wadjda" (2012), the first feature film directed by a woman in Saudi Arabia, and "The Perfect Candidate" (2018), which represented the Kingdom at several international festivals.
This work marks the second collaboration between Al-Mansour and Saudi actress Mila Al-Zahrani, who starred in "The Perfect Candidate"; the cast also includes Shafi Al-Harithi and Aziz Al-Gharbawi.
Director Al-Mansour confirmed in media statements that "The Unknown" represents a different experience from her previous works. She added, "Through (The Unknown), I wanted to present a film that balances public appeal and artistic character, and tells an intriguing women's story that reflects the reality of change we are experiencing in Saudi Arabia."
