In an extraordinary moment, Mrs. Fairuz, the icon of Lebanese singing, appeared at the farewell scene for her son, the great artist Ziad Rahbani, whose body was laid to rest today (Monday) from the Church of the Dormition of Our Lady in the town of Muhaythisa in Kfifia, northeast of Beirut.

The funeral ceremony witnessed a remarkable presence from a large crowd, who gathered since the morning in front of Khoury Hospital in the Hamra area of Beirut, chanting Ziad's famous songs, bidding him farewell with applause and tears before he was taken to his final resting place.

Fairuz appeared deeply affected, in a rare appearance before the cameras, accompanied by her daughter Rima Rahbani, while sadness enveloped the atmosphere amidst the participation of several family members and close friends.

Condolences are set to be received at the Church of the Dormition of Our Lady until six o'clock this evening, with the mourning continuing tomorrow (Tuesday) at the same time.

Ziad Rahbani passed away on Saturday evening at the age of 69, after a brief battle with illness. Despite his absence, his artistic imprint remains a testament to a unique artistic school that blends deep music, sharp social criticism, and bold theater.

Ziad has departed... but his melodies resonate in memory.
