On July 22, 2019, death took away the Bahraini media personality and actress Sabreen Bourshid at the age of thirty-four, after a brief struggle with illness that sparked much interaction and sadness in the Gulf media and artistic circles. Today marks the sixth anniversary of her passing, amidst a quiet reflection on her professional journey and the impact she left during her few years in media and drama.
Sabreen entered the media field at a young age, starting her career as a presenter at Bahrain Radio in 2009, then moving between several television programs, where she gained notable public acceptance thanks to her calm style and spontaneous presence. Over time, she transitioned to acting, participating in several Gulf drama productions, most notably the series "Waiting Station," "I Have a Script," and "Lovers Despite Divorce."
In April 2019, her father announced that she was diagnosed with three lymphatic tumors in the brain and called for official intervention to treat her outside Bahrain. The state responded, and she was transferred for treatment in Germany, before later moving to Turkey where she passed away after her health deteriorated.
Sabreen's death was a shocking surprise, especially as she was in a phase of professional ascent, with no prior indications of a serious health condition. Several artists and media figures in the Gulf mourned her, highlighting her high professionalism and noble ethics.
Today, six years after her departure, her short experience remains present as a model of a young talent whose circumstances did not allow her more time, and her death became one of the most prominent cases of sudden loss in the Gulf artistic scene over the past decade.
