واختير كروز لتلقي تمثال صغير لمساهماته في السينما، إلى جانب مصممة الرقص ديبي ألن، ومصمم الإنتاج وين توماس، كما ستحصل دولي بارتن على جائزة جان هيرشولت الإنسانية لعملها الإنساني المستمر منذ عقود.
وحصل توم كروز (62 عاماً) على أربعة ترشيحات لجوائز الأوسكار لكنه لم يفز بأي منها، رغم تحقيقه شهرة عالمية لأدواره في أفلام «ميشن إمباسيبل» و«توب غان».
وقالت أكاديمية فنون وعلوم الصور المتحركة في بيان: «إن التزام توم كروز المذهل تجاه مجتمع صناعة الأفلام والتجربة المسرحية ألهمنا جميعاً».
وستكرّم ديبي ألن البالغة 75 عاماً لمسيرتها المهنية التي امتدت خمسة عقود، وتضمّنت تصميم رقصات حفلات توزيع جوائز الأوسكار سبع مرات، والعمل في أفلام من بينها «فورغت باريس» عام 1995.
أما وين توماس فسيكّرم على عمله الإنتاجي في أفلام مثل «مالكولم إكس»، و«دو ذي رايت ثينغ».
The organizers of the 2026 Oscars have decided to award American actor and producer Tom Cruise an "Honorary Oscar."
Cruise will receive the Honorary Oscar before the 2026 Oscars ceremony, according to the organizers, marking the first Oscar he has received in his Hollywood career.
Cruise has been chosen to receive a small statue for his contributions to cinema, alongside choreographer Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas. Additionally, Dolly Parton will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her decades-long humanitarian work.
Tom Cruise (62 years old) has received four Oscar nominations but has not won any, despite achieving global fame for his roles in the "Mission: Impossible" and "Top Gun" films.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences stated in a press release: "Tom Cruise's remarkable commitment to the film industry and the theatrical experience has inspired us all."
Debbie Allen, 75, will be honored for her career spanning five decades, which includes choreographing the Oscars seven times and working on films such as "Forged in Paris" in 1995.
Wynn Thomas will be recognized for his production work on films like "Malcolm X" and "Do the Right Thing."
