في حدث سينمائي بارز، حصد الفيلم الفلسطيني الدرامي الكوميدي «كان ياما كان في غزة» (Once Upon a Time in Gaza) جائزة أفضل إخراج مناصفة بين المخرجين التوأمين طرزان وعرب ناصر، ضمن قسم «نظرة ما» في الدورة الـ78 من مهرجان كان السينمائي الدولي.
ولاقى الفيلم الذي شهد عرضه العالمي الأول خلال المهرجان، استحساناً كبيراً من الجمهور والنقاد، حيث تفاعل الحضور مع العرض بالتصفيق الحار وهتافات داعمة لفلسطين.
«كان ياما كان في غزة»، وهو إنتاج مشترك بين فرنسا وألمانيا والبرتغال وفلسطين وقطر والأردن، ويروي قصة شاب فلسطيني يُدعى «يحيى» يدفعه اليأس من واقعه في غزة عام 2007 إلى الانخراط في تجارة المخدرات، لتنقلب حياته إلى دوامة من الصراعات والتحديات.
ويتناول الفيلم الواقع الاجتماعي والسياسي في غزة بأسلوب درامي ممزوج بالفكاهة السوداء، مع التركيز على غريزة البقاء والكبرياء التي تقود شخصياته.
وعبر المخرجان طرزان وعرب ناصر عن فخرهما وامتنانهما لهذا التكريم، مشيرين إلى أن السينما بالنسبة لهما هي «رسالة حياة وسط الركام»، خاصة في ظل الظروف القاسية التي يعيشها قطاع غزة تحت الحصار والحرب المستمرة منذ أكتوبر 2023، وأكدا أن الفيلم يعكس صورة إنسانية مختلفة عن غزة، بعيدة عن الصورة النمطية المرتبطة بالدمار والصراع.
ويضم الفيلم الذي شارك في كتابته عامر ناصر وماري ليجراند، نخبة من الممثلين الفلسطينيين مثل نادر عبد الحي، رمزي مقدسي، ومجد عيد، بإدارة تصوير كريستوف جرايلوت وموسيقى تصويرية لأمين بوحافة، الذي أشاد به عرب ناصر لإنجازه الموسيقى في وقت قياسي.
ويُعد هذا الفوز إنجازاً جديداً للأخوين ناصر، اللذين سبق لهما المشاركة في مهرجان كان عام 2013 بفيلم قصير بعنوان «كوندوم ليد»، وعام 2015 بفيلمهما الروائي الأول «ديغراديه»، ويؤكد هذا التكريم مكانتهما كأصوات سينمائية فلسطينية بارزة، قادرة على تقديم رؤى فنية عميقة تعبر عن الواقع الفلسطيني بأسلوب مبتكر.
In a prominent cinematic event, the Palestinian dramedy film "كان ياما كان في غزة" (Once Upon a Time in Gaza) won the Best Director award, shared between twin directors Tarzan and Arab Nasser, in the "Un Certain Regard" section of the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
The film, which had its world premiere at the festival, received great acclaim from both the audience and critics, as attendees reacted to the screening with loud applause and chants supporting Palestine.
"كان ياما كان في غزة" is a co-production between France, Germany, Portugal, Palestine, Qatar, and Jordan, and tells the story of a young Palestinian named "Yahya" who, driven by despair from his reality in Gaza in 2007, gets involved in drug trafficking, leading his life into a whirlwind of conflicts and challenges.
The film addresses the social and political reality in Gaza with a dramatic style mixed with dark humor, focusing on the survival instinct and pride that drive its characters.
Directors Tarzan and Arab Nasser expressed their pride and gratitude for this honor, noting that cinema for them is "a message of life amidst the rubble," especially given the harsh conditions in the Gaza Strip under siege and the ongoing war since October 2023. They emphasized that the film reflects a different human image of Gaza, far from the stereotypical image associated with destruction and conflict.
The film, co-written by Amer Nasser and Marie Legrand, features a selection of Palestinian actors such as Nader Abd El-Hai, Ramzi Maqdisi, and Majd Eid, with cinematography by Christophe Graillot and a score by Ameen Bouhafa, who was praised by Arab Nasser for completing the music in record time.
This win marks a new achievement for the Nasser brothers, who previously participated in Cannes in 2013 with a short film titled "Condom Lead," and in 2015 with their first feature film "Degrade." This recognition affirms their status as prominent Palestinian cinematic voices capable of delivering deep artistic visions that express the Palestinian reality in an innovative way.
