يشهد عدد من أحياء الطائف، ومنها العنود وأم السباع والردف، تزايداً ملحوظاً في أعداد الحيوانات السائبة والكلاب الضالة خلال الأعوام الأخيرة، ما تسبب في معاناة يومية للسكان وحرمانهم من التنزّه وممارسة رياضة المشي بأمان داخل تلك الأحياء.
ويؤكد الأهالي، أن انتشار الجمال والخيول والأبقار والكلاب الضالة، داخل الأحياء بات يشكّل خطراً مباشراً عليهم، إضافة إلى ما تسببه من تشويه للطرقات وإزعاج للمارة. ويرى كل من أحمد الزهراني وعلي الحارثي، أن على الجهات المختصة التحرك للقضاء عليها، وطالب علي الثبيتي بضرورة قيامها بجولات ميدانية لمصادرة الحيوانات السائبة ومحاسبة أصحابها الذين تركوها دون رقابة، مما جعلها تعبث داخل الأحياء وتهدد سلامة السكان.
كما دعا الأهالي الجهات المعنية إلى تخصيص مواقع مناسبة لهواة ركوب الخيل بعيداً عن المناطق المأهولة بالسكان، مؤكدين أن تجول تلك الحيوانات بين المنازل وعلى الطرقات يؤذيهم ويحرم محبي رياضة المشي من ممارستها بأمان.
مشيرين إلى أن معاناتهم تبقى قائمة وتنتظر تحرك أمانة الطائف ووزارة البيئة والمياه والزراعة والأمن البيئي؛ لإيقاف تلك التجاوزات.
A number of neighborhoods in Taif, including Al-Anoud, Umm Al-Saba, and Al-Rudaf, are witnessing a noticeable increase in the number of stray animals and stray dogs in recent years, which has caused daily suffering for residents and deprived them of the ability to stroll and practice walking safely within those neighborhoods.
Residents confirm that the presence of camels, horses, cows, and stray dogs within the neighborhoods poses a direct threat to them, in addition to causing damage to the roads and disturbing passersby. Both Ahmed Al-Zahrani and Ali Al-Harithi believe that the relevant authorities should take action to eliminate these issues, and Ali Al-Thubaiti has called for the need for field tours to confiscate stray animals and hold their owners accountable for leaving them unattended, which has allowed them to roam freely within the neighborhoods and threaten the safety of residents.
Residents have also urged the concerned authorities to allocate suitable areas for horse riding enthusiasts away from populated areas, emphasizing that the roaming of these animals between homes and on the roads harms them and prevents walking enthusiasts from practicing their activity safely.
They pointed out that their suffering continues and awaits action from the Taif Municipality, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and the Environmental Security to stop these violations.
