متنزه «لايجة» عاد مهجوراً.. مواطنون لـ«عكاظ»: متى يعود للحياة ؟

The Laijaa Nature Park in the Duma Al-Jandal Governorate has been subjected to vandalism, and citizens are surprised that the park has been left in this condition, after it was once a vibrant space. Abdullah Al-Sarhani explained to "Okaz" that Laijaa Park used to welcome many visitors but was neglected for several years before being handed over to the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. Plant specialist Mohammed Abdullah Amshan Al-Hassan believes that the park should be utilized for planting wild trees and adopting mist irrigation instead of flooding. Saeed Al-Anzi added that the Al-Jouf region is rich in various types of wild plants that have environmental and medicinal benefits, such as raghil, rawtha, ratm, salam, ghudaa, and arta. Nasser Al-Hassan stated that cooperation could be established with the Al-Jouf Pasture Research Center and the National Center for Vegetation Cover in sowing seeds and planting wild trees. Additionally, the establishment of an informational center for the flora and wild plants of the Al-Jouf region in the park could be considered.

In contrast, the head of the Duma Al-Jandal Municipality, Engineer Smeihan Al-Shammari, explained to "Okaz" that the site was handed over to the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture four years ago.

A source in the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture told "Okaz" that the park has been handed over to the officials in the vegetation cover sector in the Al-Jouf region.
