يحمد للفنان اعتزال الفن إن كان رديئاً أو مسهباً في الرداءة.
وكثير من الفنانين -في هذا الزمان- تتمنى لو أنهم أقدموا -جميعهم- على الاعتزال.
فالفنان الرصين صاحب الرسالة الفنية ذات الأثر التثقيفي، والعمق الإنساني، لا يمكن له الاعتزال مهما جارت عليه الحياة.
وكثير من الفنانين الحقيقيين قضوا نحبهم وهم يؤدون أدوارهم الفنية ذات الرسالة الإنسانية، ويمكن للقارئ استعراض أولئك الفنانين الكبار، أمثال: محمود المليجي، عبدالله غيث، صلاح ذو الفقار، صلاح قابيل، وطلال مداح، نصري شمس الدين، الضيف أحمد، عشرات الممثلين عرباً وأجانب قضوا نحبهم وهم يؤدون أدوارهم الفنية العظيمة، حتى إن جثة المطربة أسمهان أدخلها الفنان والمخرج يوسف وهبي كمشهد لنهاية فيلمها (غرام وانتقام).
إعلان الفنان عن اعتزاله هو نوع من أنواع المسكنة، والبحث عن التعاطف، خاصة إن كان فناناً لا يعد ذا ثقل فني، بل فناناً هزيل الأداء، وهزيل الأثر الإنساني.
الفنان العظيم يرى أن وجوده لا يكون إلا داخل فنه، ولا يخرج من هذا الدوار إلا بالوفاة.. ونتسامح مع الفنان الذي قد تدهورت صحته ولم يعد قادراً على أداء أدواره الفنية، أو من وصل إلى قناعة دينية بترك الفن، أما من يترك لحاله بسبب ضعف مستواه، أو كونه فناناً رخيصاً لم يحدث بصمة فنية في حياته، فهذا فنان لا يعول عليه إن بقي أو ترك الفن.
أمنيتي أن يتهافت الرديئون على الاعتزال كواجب إنساني ورحمة للفن من وجودهم.
