The trilateral meeting of the representatives of the countries of the Mecca Agreement for joint defense with the Iranian government in Tehran carries three highly important messages at a sensitive time for the region and the world. These messages emphasize the necessity of de-escalating military tensions and restoring security and stability in the Middle East as a top priority, as well as enhancing trust-building among the countries in the region through diplomacy and recognizing shared interests to address security concerns. Additionally, there is a call for positive engagement with the current mediation efforts led by Qatar and Pakistan to resolve the ongoing crisis.
These messages, in their direction, look forward to a new phase where the countries of the region manage their security and interests independently, away from conflicts, wars, and international interventions. They seek, in their details, a roadmap and a new beacon of hope to save the region from a new war that is looming on the horizon. This is also an opportunity to restore regional and international balance to establish peace and dialogue through alliances, rather than through unilateral confrontational behavior that extends its effects and repercussions on the region and the world, particularly in terms of navigation and energy supply routes.
The step taken by the countries of the "Mecca Agreement" to meet with senior Iranian officials is a courageous move, reflecting the pivotal role of these countries in ensuring the security and stability of the region and facing challenges with a more profound, mature, and aware strategic vision. This role also reveals that the military solution is not prioritized over the political solution, and that the security concerns between Iran and the countries in the region can be addressed based on trust, respect, and mutual interests.
When Prince Khalid bin Salman sits at the same table with the representatives of the "Mecca Agreement" and Iranian officials in the heart of Tehran, it is in itself an opportunity to restore trust, enhance joint action, and emerge from the crisis with sustainable solutions rather than temporary ones. The presence of influential regional countries like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey sends a message that Iran is expected to receive positively to address the current crisis, viewing this alliance as a reality for mutual defense not only of those countries' borders but also in defending the stability of the region.
Iran, as a state—not a revolution—must decide before it is too late. This decision is not related to who won or lost in this battle, but the true victory is for Iran and its people to remain in their regional environment to live in security and peace, especially with their neighbors, and to abandon projects that have led them and the region to wars, conflicts, and international interventions that neither the region nor the world can bear any longer. This will become clearer from the indicators of this decision when mediation efforts are active during these days, and a return to a historic peace is crafted by Iran for the region, not just for itself.
Representatives of the "Mecca Agreement" put their messages on the table and left the meeting awaiting the Iranian response, which will not be delayed this time, especially as indicators of a return to military escalation are possible. Tehran will not be given more time to maneuver or buy time, which gives the meeting of the representatives of the "Mecca Agreement" greater value in influencing and containing the Iranian position, and it is an opportunity that will not be repeated to prioritize security and peace over war, which will not be like the previous ones.
