An astonishing paradox that was neither on my mind nor in my thoughts; I contemplated it deeply in terms of form, content, and timing, and found that the color red and the number three were the common factors in its details. What astonished me was that this paradox occurred specifically on a "Tuesday," in a scene that seemed as if the "schedule" of the league contributed to its occurrence, although I am certain that coincidence played its role, not a deliberate conspiracy.
-On Tuesday evening, fate in football decided that Al Ahly and Pyramids would meet in a tournament dubbed the "Ocean Championship," with its trophy being red. I do not know why this color was chosen specifically, but my imagination soared to the world of stocks; whoever succeeds in overcoming this tournament would have surpassed the "red indicator" with all its implications of danger. In just one match, but it grants him the "green indicator" with a golden opportunity to achieve two championships: the first being the "Challenge Championship," and then the "Continental Championship."
-Despite the great optimism that preceded the confrontation, the celebrations, and the excessive "confidence" that Al Ahly could overcome the obstacle and move towards the two goals, the shock was harsh. On Tuesday night, all hopes were lost with a lethal "triple" that ended the dream quickly, leaving the Al Ahly fan facing an unforgettable historical defeat, with all the pain and disappointments of three titles scattered in the blink of an eye.
-On the same day, Al Ittihad played its first match to defend the King’s Cup title it achieved last season, against Al Wahda. Strangely, Al Wahda appeared in black jerseys instead of the red usually associated with its logo, while Al Ittihad played in its traditional striped colors of yellow and black, symbols of history and heritage. The match ended with a victory for Al Ittihad, qualifying it for the Round of 16, thus surpassing a "red line" that enhances its ambition to move forward towards the cup.
-I return to the paradox that came together on one night: the color red and the number three. Was it merely a coincidence? Or a profound message carrying a lesson for those who wish to reflect on the events of football, which are not limited to the results on the field but extend to teach us that excessive optimism can turn into a harsh disappointment, as happened to Al Ahly. Conversely, it is enough to imagine if Al Ittihad, which played with its second team, had lost; how would its coach and fans have reacted!
-These are lessons from the "round" that stop us and urge us to be cautious of the surprises of a game that has no safety, and not to overindulge in optimism no matter how easy and smooth the path may seem.
