We live today at the peak of a technological revolution, with all that the word implies: a speed that astonishes minds and dazzles eyes, to the point that media has become one of its foremost tools, not just a window to the world, but the whole world itself.
And you all realize that every home possesses means that were once considered luxuries, as the phone, computer, and screen have become open doors through which the world enters us and we enter it.
Today's generation stands at the heart of the storm, tempted by technology with its shiny allure, yet it carries hidden dangers within; it is like a sword: when wielded wisely, it is a supporter, but when used recklessly, it becomes a curse.
Therefore, preparing the current and future generations is not a matter of chance, but rather requires a solid cognitive structure, for knowledge without awareness is like money without reason; it quickly dissipates and destroys its owner.
And because youth constitute more than 70% of society, the need to enlighten them on how to manage these means has become urgent.
Every window without awareness can turn into a breach, and every breach can become a dagger in the nation's side. Here lies the importance of media, in all its forms, from print journalism to radio and television, reaching up to content creation on social media networks.
Thus, the call is not to graduate journalists from high school seats, but to instill the seeds of media awareness from that stage.
I am certain that media education in schools will serve as a safeguard for minds, akin to a fence protecting orchards from beasts, and like a lock that protects homes from thieves.
The goal is for our children to learn how to distinguish news from rumors.
And how to respond politely instead of reacting ignorantly.
And how to create high-quality content instead of consuming low-quality content.
And to learn the arts of thwarting the discordant voices that attempt to poison minds and harm nations.
Nations are not protected by weapons alone, but are first safeguarded by protecting the minds of their laborers.
What is the use of a strong wall if it has a fragile mind inside that can be manipulated by mischief-makers?
We know that media has its established university specializations, but reality today imposes that electronic interaction itself is a type of media. It is wise to educate our youth early on the optimal ways to engage with it, rather than leaving them to learn from bitter experiences, or standing by as they fight in the darkness of deception.
The mind is a fortress, and one whose fortress is destroyed becomes vulnerable.
And media here is the grand gateway to that fortress.
Those who possess media awareness become like a knight who knows his enemy from his friend, while those left in ignorance are like someone groping in the dark, harming themselves before others.
From here, introducing a media subject in high school becomes a national project, not just a suggestion.
Nations are not safeguarded by the army alone, but by awareness first, and awareness is the army that never sleeps.
Will the Ministry of Education seize the initiative and open the doors of media knowledge for our children at an early age, so they become solid fortresses that cannot be uprooted by the winds of deception?
