Recently, we witnessed a dangerous wave of mobilization against prominent Saudi companies. It started with a suspicious electronic boycott campaign that ended with the bankruptcy announcement of "one of those companies," and now we see "the other" facing a similar campaign without justification..
What is striking is that those leading this mobilization are fake accounts clearly managed from outside the local scene, using a method of organized exaggeration of any mistake or rumor until it turns into a public opinion issue.
Here, we are not talking about spontaneous consumer criticism, but rather a systematic attempt to undermine and vilify the Saudi private sector and distort its image in front of citizens to sow discord and spread frustration among them! This, in itself, is a silent conspiracy aimed at breaking the trust between citizens and their country's companies.
The private sector is a pillar, not an enemy; it today employs more than 8.7 million workers, including over 2.3 million Saudis. Closing any large company does not mean losing a restaurant or a brand, but rather losing hundreds of jobs and disrupting supply chains that include hundreds of local suppliers.
The company currently facing smear campaigns alone employs over 5,000 employees and deals with more than 200 local suppliers! Imagine the extent of the damage if it collapsed due to fictitious boycott campaigns.
The bankruptcy of "one of those national companies" is not an ordinary business event, but a significant worrying indicator, as it sends a negative signal to foreign investors who are watching the Saudi market: "Local capital itself is not protected from smear campaigns"... This contradicts the goals of Vision 2030, which aims to raise the private sector's contribution to GDP from 40% to 65% in the coming years.
The repeated scenario for those who want to analyze:
1. A rumor or statement taken out of context.
2. Exaggeration through anonymous accounts.
3. Broadcasting a vilifying discourse: "The private sector exploits the citizen."
4. Turning public interaction into misdirected anger.
5. Exploiting the unemployment file and living disparities and hitting the foreigner’s tune to sow internal discord.
This pattern is not coincidental; it is part of a clear economic soft war targeting the interior. The battle today is not over a sandwich or a meal, but over the citizen's trust in their national economy.
When a Saudi company goes bankrupt, the message is not just for the consumer, but for every investor: "Beware, you might be the next victim"... These shocks go beyond one company to strike the image of the Kingdom as a safe investment destination.
What is required today is not only to fortify companies but also to fortify the awareness of citizens... Constructive criticism is welcome, but mobilization through anonymous accounts should be read as an organized conspiracy, not a fleeting public opinion campaign...
