One day, I wrote to remind and emphasize that we have soft powers in all fields, which is a rich wealth, and I have always wondered:
- Why isn't our soft wealth being exported?
Expanding on the idea of exporting that creative wealth, I recalled, through the successive ages, that countries and kingdoms have sought to extend their influence to create impact, whether that impact was military, economic, or ideological. Each power has a domain to create influence in the structure of contemporary societies with respect to one another, and in every time period, the forces that have a real impact in creating extended influence are renewed and diversified. In recent years (relatively), soft powers have emerged, taking on an important space among countries as a force, and have proven their existence as a lasting weapon in their effect. Yes, soft powers are newly established forces, and they have entered the world as an influential and transformative force, representing the flower of every civilization, as they embody the essence of societal advancement in all aspects of life. Because our country is characterized by numerous powers (specifically in the economy), these powers have enabled it to be a country of international and regional weight.
As I have previously stated - repeatedly - our human wealth in creativity surpasses oil wealth, as it embodies the progress and development achieved by the people of this country. It is a soft power that has emerged in all fields, so why isn't it being exported?
Every country has a means to extend its influence. With the end - or scarcity - of military expansion, soft powers have become a significant weapon in extending the area of influence and control.
With the rise and diversification of our creative powers, reaching a global level, we now have soft powers that can extend our influence far and wide, by harnessing our immense economy to export those soft powers such as cinema, literature, art, sports, singing, theater, and visual arts..
It wasn't long before the decision of His Excellency Advisor Turki Al Sheikh appeared, that the upcoming Riyadh Season would rely entirely on Saudi musicians and performers in the musical concerts, as well as a near-complete reliance on Saudi plays..
This decision was received with overwhelming joy by the citizens, while at the same time it sparked a debate about the exclusion or abandonment of non-Saudi artists. I wrote that I understood His Excellency Advisor Turki Al Sheikh's decision from two perspectives:
First: The definite pursuit to create musical and theatrical talents (which already exist); in order to achieve self-sufficiency, rely on oneself, and depend on the artists of the country. Additionally, it grants young Saudis the opportunity to shine instead of remaining on the sidelines for many years. I believe this decision aligns with the popular saying "You only get full when you feed yourself," and because our country is moving in an upward direction in everything, it was necessary to be fully integrated in all powers, including soft powers.
Second: Now, with the influx of Arab cultural centers, Saudi Arabia has become the main center of the Arab world, and the data presented on the ground gives us the right to be a cultural and artistic center in all aspects of life at the level of the Arab world.
