I was drawn to the Anwart initiative, launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, aimed at enhancing the experience of pilgrims by providing welcoming, guiding, and organizational services that help them perform their rituals with ease and comfort!
The initiative aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to promote a culture of volunteerism in society and works to empower and engage volunteers by providing an organized work environment to deliver their services efficiently, improving and developing the services offered to pilgrims, thus providing a qualitative volunteering experience for volunteers and an exceptional experience for the guests of the Most Merciful!
The initiative, which covers the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk, the Northern Borders, Al-Jawf, Najran, and the Eastern Province, involves development centers participating in welcoming pilgrims at land entry points, providing services in the holy sites, and offering necessary guidance in multiple languages. It also supports the elderly and persons with disabilities by providing accessible transportation and specialized staff to assist them. Meanwhile, the initiative contributes to organizing volunteer work and distributing volunteers in various field tasks such as guiding, directing, distributing meals and drinks, and offering gifts to the pilgrims of the Sacred House and the Prophet's Mosque, which enhances the quality of services provided to the guests of the Most Merciful!
While the initiative is remarkable in all its elements, the "Mirkaz Al-Hajj" adds an extra distinction by gathering pilgrims from different cultures and offering Saudi hospitality in a brotherly atmosphere, enriched by the spiritual ambiance of the sacred place and event. It also allows pilgrims to learn about the cultural, social, developmental, and civilizational aspects of Saudi Arabia!
In short, "Anwart" encapsulates a range of volunteer activities that not only attract volunteers and highlight volunteer work in Saudi society but also contribute to providing a positive experience for pilgrims that complements the tremendous efforts made by the state to serve the guests of the Most Merciful!
