As the occupation army announced the expansion of the genocide war on Gaza, the newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" revealed the stages of the military operation that began its first phase this morning (Saturday) with extensive strikes on the devastated sector.
The occupation forces began launching wide-ranging strikes as part of the "Gideon’s Chariots" campaign aimed at "achieving the war's objectives, including the liberation of the captives and the defeat of Hamas."
The official Israeli broadcasting authority reported that the operation aims to fully occupy Gaza, estimating that the operation will last several months and will include the complete evacuation of the residents of the Gaza Strip from combat areas, including northern Gaza, to areas in the southern part of the sector. It confirmed that the occupation army will remain in any area it occupies.
According to the newspaper, the operation consists of three phases; the first has already begun and has been implemented through the expansion of the war. Meanwhile, the second phase is still in preparation through aerial operations alongside ground operations, as well as efforts to transfer most of the civilian population in the Gaza Strip to safe shelters in the Rafah area. The third phase relies on the entry of ground military forces to gradually occupy large parts of Gaza and prepare for a long-term military presence in the sector.
The newspaper mentioned that the occupation army intends to gradually take control of the Gaza Strip over several months with the aim of eliminating Hamas and completely destroying the tunnels.
Tens of thousands of reserve soldiers received notifications from their commanders and were asked to prepare for this.
The "Gideon’s Chariots" operation carries religious, historical, and military connotations, as Israel previously named one of its operations during the Nakba of 1948 "Operation Gideon," which aimed to control the Palestinian area of Beisan and expel its residents. Over the past five days, the occupation army has intensified the pace of genocide in Gaza, committing dozens of massacres.
