لقي تسعة أشخاص مصرعهم إثر تحطم طائرة خاصة من طراز (ليرجيت 60) في منطقة سكنية بولاية فلوريدا الأمريكية، في حادث وصفه مسؤولون أمريكيون بالمأساوي.
وسقطت الطائرة، التي كانت تقل تسعة أشخاص، قرب منطقة كريستهافن أثناء رحلتها المتجهة من ولاية تكساس إلى جزر الباهاما، ما أسفر عن وفاة جميع من كانوا على متنها.
وأكد وزير النقل الأمريكي شون دافي أن الحادث أودى بحياة الركاب كافة، واصفاً الواقعة بأنها «مأساة مروعة»، فيما باشرت الجهات المختصة إجراءات التحقيق للوقوف على أسباب التحطم وملابساته.
وأوضحت إدارة الطيران الاتحادية الأمريكية أن الطائرة كانت قد أقلعت من مطار أوستن-بيرجستروم الدولي في ولاية تكساس متجهة إلى مطار نورث إليوثيرا في جزر الباهاما، قبل أن تتحطم في منطقة سكنية بولاية فلوريدا.
في المقابل، أعلن المجلس الوطني لسلامة النقل فتح تحقيق لمعرفة أسباب الحادث وتحديد العوامل التي أدت إلى سقوط الطائرة.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) clarified that the plane had taken off from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas heading to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas before crashing in a residential area in Florida.
Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board announced the opening of an investigation to determine the causes of the accident and identify the factors that led to the plane's crash.
