The Public Prosecutor's Office in Monaco announced on Monday the arrest of a man in connection with the death of Antoine de Massy, a member of the ruling family, whose body was found on Sunday inside a public park in the principality, as investigations continue to uncover the circumstances of the death.
The prosecutor's office clarified in a statement to the French news agency "AFP" that the investigations expanded after the arrested individual was spotted in video recordings alongside de Massy, noting that he is still under suspicion, and it has not yet been determined whether he is involved in a criminal incident or a witness to events whose legal characterization has not been defined.
The prosecutor's office confirmed that the hypothesis of accidental death remains valid, pending what the investigations will reveal.
De Massy is 29 years old and is the grandson of Princess Antoinette, the elder sister of Prince Rainier III, the father of Prince Albert II. His body was found after his family reported their concern to the authorities on Sunday due to a lack of news from him.
