ضرب زلزال بقوة 4.9 درجات على مقياس ريختر، اليوم، جزر ساندويتش الجنوبية، وهي من أقاليم ما وراء البحار البريطانية في جنوب المحيط الأطلسي.
وأفادت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية بأن مركز الزلزال وقع على عمق 10 كيلومترات، وسُجلت الهزة عند الساعة 01:47 بالتوقيت العالمي.
ولم ترد حتى الآن أنباء عن سقوط ضحايا أو وقوع أضرار مادية جراء الزلزال، كما لم ترد تقارير عن شعور السكان بالهزة، فيما لم يصدر تقييم يشير إلى وجود خطر من حدوث موجات تسونامي.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers, and the tremor was recorded at 01:47 UTC.
So far, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage from the earthquake, and there are no reports of residents feeling the tremor, while no assessment has indicated a risk of tsunami waves.
