The Scottish family did not expect that the six years since their cat (Pandora) went missing would end happily, but a surprising call turned a long chapter of searching and despair, bringing the cat back to her owners after a disappearance they thought would never end.
The story dates back to 2020, when Mary Boy and her family were on their way from England to Scotland to move their furniture, before their car was involved in a rollover accident near the village of (Errol).
During the incident, the bag containing (Pandora) was ejected from the car and opened, causing the cat to flee in panic towards the nearby fields. The family made extensive efforts to find her, through search operations and repeated calls, but days passed without a trace, and Mary and her family eventually had to move to their new home in the (Fraserburgh) area, while hope gradually faded that they would see (Pandora) again.
After six years, the surprise came from the town of (Perth); located about 10 miles from the site of the accident and about 120 miles from Mary’s current home. One of the residents noticed a stray cat trying to enter her home repeatedly, so she reached out to the (Cats Protection) organization that specializes in caring for cats.
When volunteer Fiona Morrison arrived at the scene, she examined the cat for a microchip, and the surprise was revealed: (Pandora) had a chip registered with Mary Boy’s details; who never expected to hear news of her cat after all these years.
Mary was out celebrating her sixtieth birthday with her family when she received the call that brought back a memory she thought was in the past. She said that in that moment, tears of joy overwhelmed her, and she initially did not dare to believe that the cat she had searched for was still alive.
The surprise did not stop at finding her; (Pandora) recognized her family members, and it seemed she quickly adapted to her new home, starting anew a life that the family had lost hope of reclaiming.
