حددت محكمة الاستئناف في مصر جلسة الـ14 من أكتوبر القادم لنظر أولى جلسات محاكمة الإعلامي الرياضي مدحت شلبي، في القضية المقامة ضده من رئيس مجلس إدارة النادي الأهلي المصري الكابتن محمود الخطيب، والتي يتهمه فيها بالسب والقذف ونشر أخبار كاذبة.
وتعود أسباب الأزمة إلى بلاغات رسمية تقدم بها المستشار القانوني للنادي الأهلي إلى النائب العام، على خلفية تصريحات تلفزيونية أدلى بها شلبي ادعى فيها أن عدم سفر الخطيب مع بعثة الفريق إلى كأس العالم للأندية في أمريكا كان بسبب عدم حصوله على التأشيرة وليس لأسباب صحية، وهو ما نفاه النادي الأهلي بشكل قاطع بعد نشر صورة من التأشيرة الأمريكية الصادرة لرئيسه.
من جانبه، نفى مدحت شلبي خلال التحقيقات تعمده الإساءة أو نشر معلومات غير صحيحة، مؤكداً احترام المحتوى الإعلامي وعدم وجود أي خلافات شخصية مع رئيس النادي الأهلي، وأن حديثه جاء في سياق المتابعة الإعلامية للأحداث الرياضية.
وتأتي المحاكمة المرتقبة لتضع حداً قانونياً للسجال الذي أثار جدلاً واسعاً في الشارع الرياضي المصري خلال الفترة الماضية، في إطار تمسك إدارة الأهلي بحماية سمعة قياداتها ومؤسستها.
The Court of Appeal in Egypt has set the session for October 14th to consider the first hearing in the trial of sports broadcaster Medhat Shalaby, in the case brought against him by the chairman of Al Ahly SC, Captain Mahmoud El Khatib, who accuses him of defamation and spreading false news.
The reasons for the crisis stem from official complaints submitted by the legal advisor of Al Ahly to the public prosecutor, following television statements made by Shalaby in which he claimed that El Khatib's absence from the team’s delegation to the FIFA Club World Cup in America was due to not obtaining a visa, rather than health reasons. This was categorically denied by Al Ahly after publishing a photo of the American visa issued for its president.
For his part, Medhat Shalaby denied during the investigations any intention to offend or spread incorrect information, affirming his respect for media content and stating that there are no personal disputes with the chairman of Al Ahly, and that his comments were made in the context of media coverage of sports events.
The upcoming trial aims to legally put an end to the controversy that has sparked widespread debate in the Egyptian sports community in recent times, as the Al Ahly administration insists on protecting the reputation of its leaders and institution.
