In a cinematic scenario filled with humor and geological surprise, a Romanian elderly woman lived for many years next to a rare treasure without realizing it, as she used a heavy red rock merely to keep her bedroom door open.
The story took a satirical twist when thieves broke into the woman’s home in the "Buzău" county and stole her gold jewelry, while leaving the rock sitting at the door, considering it an ordinary stone of no value, allowing it to remain in its forgotten spot until the woman's death in 1991.
However, the significant change began when one of her relatives inherited the house and became suspicious about the nature of this heavy stone weighing 3.5 kilograms. After sending it to a specialized laboratory at the history museum in Poland, the result brought an unexpected scientific shock, revealing that the piece is a rare and exceptional block of fossilized raw amber, with a historical age ranging between 38 and 70 million years.
Financial reports estimate the value of the piece at around one million euros, but the management of the "Buzău" regional museum (which embraced the treasure as a national symbol) asserts that its historical and scientific value is priceless, as amber pieces discovered rarely exceed simple weights, in addition to their remarkable ability to preserve the remains of ancient organisms and plants within their crystalline structure.
