In Morocco, fake concert advertisements are spreading, featuring the names of prominent stars and selling tickets to mirages. This is how the specter of digital fraud sets its traps to ensnare lovers of theater and art.
The "Mohammed V Theater" issued an urgent warning statement highlighting the ongoing electronic fraud campaigns sweeping social media platforms, where suspicious pages exploit the names of renowned Moroccan theatrical institutions to promote fake shows and concerts featuring Moroccan, Arab, and foreign artists.
These misleading networks rely on creating counterfeit pages that invite the public to make advance reservations and payments online, only for buyers to be surprised by the disappearance of the amounts paid without receiving any tickets or official booking confirmations.
These warning actions come after repeated cases targeting major cultural institutions, including the Grand Theater in Rabat and the Mohammed V Theater, where fraudsters have exploited the record demand for electronic payment services and resorted to using images and the popularity of beloved stars to lend false legitimacy to their schemes.
The theater management urged all followers and the public to exercise extreme caution and to directly verify booking sources and the official pages before making any digital payment, while also urging immediate reporting of any suspicious platform to protect users from this recurring trap.
