The attempt to exit through the border gate was merely the final step in a thorny path. The nationality investigations in Kuwait placed a red "alert" sign on the name of a young man born in 1991, and as soon as he attempted to cross, his journey was halted, leading to a sequence of events that reshaped an entire family tree.
During the confrontation in the interrogation halls, silence did not last long; the young man admitted to the validity of the findings. He revealed that the Kuwaiti citizen listed in his official documents as his father was actually his real uncle, and that his biological father holds a Gulf nationality and belongs to a completely different fabric. He was found in possession of documents proving his original identity.
The course of the investigation immediately shifted from the detainee to the "uncle" registered as the father, revealing a more complex chapter. The uncle, born in 1953 and granted Kuwaiti nationality in 1973, also held a Gulf identity under a completely different four-name designation than his official records, and it was discovered that he had left Kuwait since 2024.
A thorough examination of the uncle's file revealed 14 sons and daughters, two of whom were registered as his sons but were actually the sons of his brothers; the first being the young man detained at the airport, and the second, born in 1992, had left Kuwait a few months earlier.
To close the gaps in the case with conclusive physical evidence in light of the uncle being outside Kuwait, the security authorities resorted to forensic evidence. Experts retrieved a genetic sample preserved for the grandfather since 2012 during an official transaction before his death. The genetic tests provided decisive scientific evidence that matched the documents and confessions.
The examination of the sprawling file concluded with a decision to revoke the nationality of 37 individuals, including the main file holder, the children, grandchildren, and their branches, while investigations continue into other files related to the same family to resolve the remaining suspected records.
