أظهر مقطع فيديو من كاميرات المراقبة في مستشفى (جاكسون ميموريال) بولاية فلوريدا لحظة اعتداء مريض على ممرضة تعمل في قسم الطوارئ، في حادثة أثارت صدمة واسعة ودَفعت الممرضة إلى اتخاذ إجراءات قانونية ضد المستشفى.
ويُظهر التسجيل مريضًا يلاحق إحدى الممرضات قبل أن يعتدي على موظف آخر، ثم يستدير ليهاجم الممرضة يانيرا إكويلور، التي سقطت أرضًا تحت وطأة الضرب، فيما سارع طاقم المستشفى إلى تقييد المعتدي، الذي تبيّن أنه روبين وينيو، البالغ من العمر 44 عامًا. كما وثّقت زاوية أخرى رفع الممرضات لزميلتهن بعد سقوطها شبه فاقدة للوعي.
وقال محامي إكويلور، مايكل بيزي: إن الفيديو يعكس «اعتداءً عنيفًا ومتكررًا على ممرضة محترفة لم تتلق أي حماية أو تدخل أمني»، مشيرًا إلى أن موكلته تعاني كدمات متعددة وإصابات في الرأس والرقبة والعمود الفقري، إضافة إلى آثار نفسية عميقة.
وتعتزم إكويلور رفع دعوى قضائية بقيمة خمسة ملايين دولار ضد المستشفى، متهمةً إياه بالإخفاق في توفير الإشراف والحماية داخل بيئة العمل.
A video from surveillance cameras at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida showed the moment a patient attacked a nurse working in the emergency department, in an incident that sparked widespread shock and prompted the nurse to take legal action against the hospital.
The footage shows a patient chasing one of the nurses before attacking another staff member, then turning to assault nurse Yanira Equilor, who fell to the ground under the weight of the blows, while hospital staff rushed to restrain the assailant, who turned out to be 44-year-old Rubin Wainio. Another angle captured the nurses lifting their colleague after she fell, nearly unconscious.
Equilor's attorney, Michael Beasley, stated that the video reflects "a violent and repeated assault on a professional nurse who received no protection or security intervention," noting that his client suffers from multiple bruises and injuries to her head, neck, and spine, in addition to deep psychological effects.
Equilor intends to file a lawsuit for five million dollars against the hospital, accusing it of failing to provide supervision and protection within the work environment.
