ألقت الأجهزة الأمنية في مدينة غازيبور ببنغلاديش القبض على ثلاثة معلمين في إحدى المدارس، بينهم مدير المدرسة ومساعداه، على خلفية اتهامهم بتعذيب طالبين والاعتداء عليهما بالضرب وتكبيلهما، إلى جانب استخدام أدوات معدنية ساخنة لإحداث حروق في جسديهما.
وقال ضابط المباحث في مركز شرطة غاتشا إن السلطات اتخذت الإجراءات القانونية بحق المعلمين الثلاثة، وأحالتهم إلى القضاء استناداً إلى بلاغين منفصلين تقدّم بهما والدا الطالبين. وجاءت التحركات الأمنية بعد التحقق من صحة الاتهامات الواردة في الشكاوى.
وبحسب صحيفة «ديلي ستار»، فإن الواقعة بدأت عندما سقط سروال الطفلين عن طريق الخطأ أثناء اللعب في ساحة المدرسة. ووفقاً لمحاضر الشرطة، أقدم مدير المدرسة على تجريد أحد الطفلين من ملابسه وضربه بعصا من الخيزران، قبل استخدام قطعة حديدية ساخنة لإيذائه.
أما الطفل الثاني، فأفادت الاتهامات بأنه احتُجز داخل غرفة مغلقة، وقُيّدت يداه وقدماه بحبل، ووُضع شريط لاصق على فمه، قبل أن يتناوب المعلمون الثلاثة على ضربه وتجريده من ملابسه، ثم استخدام مغرفة معدنية ساخنة لإحراق مناطق من فخذيه وأردافه.
وانكشفت الواقعة بعد أيام، عندما لاحظ أحد الوالدين أن ابنه يواجه صعوبة في المشي والجلوس بصورة طبيعية عقب عودته إلى المنزل. وكشفت الفحوص وجود حروق شديدة، فيما حاول الطفل في البداية إخفاء إصاباته بالقول إنها ناجمة عن دمل.
وفي واقعة أخرى، اكتشف والد الطفل الثاني أن نجله نُقل إلى المستشفى في حالة حرجة لتلقي العلاج. وبحسب البلاغ، حاولت إدارة المدرسة التكتم على الأمر، إذ أخفت مكان وجود الطفل وأبلغت أسرته بأنه نُقل إلى فرع آخر.
وتواصل السلطات التحقيق في الواقعة، فيما يواجه المعلمون الثلاثة اتهامات تتعلّق بإساءة معاملة الطالبين وتعريضهما لإيذاء جسدي شديد.
The security forces in Gazipur, Bangladesh, arrested three teachers at a school, including the school principal and his two assistants, following accusations of torturing two students, physically assaulting them, and restraining them, in addition to using hot metal tools to inflict burns on their bodies.
A detective officer at the Gacha police station stated that the authorities have taken legal action against the three teachers and referred them to the judiciary based on two separate complaints filed by the parents of the students. The security measures came after verifying the validity of the accusations mentioned in the complaints.
According to the "Daily Star," the incident began when the children's pants accidentally fell off while they were playing in the schoolyard. According to police records, the school principal stripped one of the children of his clothes and beat him with a bamboo stick before using a hot metal piece to harm him.
As for the second child, the allegations stated that he was held in a closed room, his hands and feet were tied with a rope, and tape was placed over his mouth, before the three teachers took turns beating him and stripping him of his clothes, then using a hot metal ladle to burn areas of his thighs and buttocks.
The incident came to light days later when one of the parents noticed that their son was having difficulty walking and sitting normally after returning home. Examinations revealed severe burns, while the child initially tried to hide his injuries by claiming they were caused by a boil.
In another incident, the father of the second child discovered that his son had been taken to the hospital in critical condition for treatment. According to the report, the school administration attempted to cover up the matter, as they concealed the child's whereabouts and informed his family that he had been transferred to another branch.
The authorities continue to investigate the incident, while the three teachers face charges related to the abuse of the two students and subjecting them to severe physical harm.
