After nearly 19 years of fame achieved by the song "Ehki Li Wafadfidli," Mena has returned to the spotlight to reveal for the first time painful details about her sister Nahla's illness, who passed away in 2019 at the age of 45 after a long health struggle that ended with open-heart surgery from which she did not survive.
During her appearance with the media personality Yasmin Ezz, Mena talked about the last years of Nahla's life, explaining that she "stepped away from art in 2011 after her marriage, before her health condition gradually deteriorated, especially during her pregnancies, where she experienced repeated fainting spells and heart problems that later developed into the need for complex surgery."
Mena recounted that Nahla "was hospitalized several times, and the doctors decided to perform open-heart surgery after her condition worsened. On the day of the operation, Nahla remained in the operating room for long hours without her heart responding to the stents, and she passed away during attempts to revive her."
Mena spoke about the last meeting she had with her sister before the surgery, as she managed to visit her despite the restrictions, finding Nahla happy to see her and asking for her help in bathing before the operation, in a moment Mena described as one of the most unforgettable memories.
Mena revealed that Nahla's health struggles began in childhood, as she experienced fainting spells at specific times of the month, and these symptoms continued during her first pregnancy. She would read Surah "Yasin" after each episode, a habit that remained etched in her sister's memory.
Despite the painful ending, Nahla's name remains present among the audience through the song "Ehki Li Wafadfidli," which she performed with Mena in 2007, marking their launch into the world of singing. After the success of the song, they performed "Lqeet Rouhi" together, before their joint journey came to a halt after Nahla's marriage, while Mena continued to sing solo.
Mena and her mother are now taking care of Nahla's two sons, Yassin and Aseer, while Mena reveals after years human details that remained away from the public, reviving her sister's story that remained linked to artistic memories and great human pain.
