Media personality Riham Said has filed two official complaints with the Journalists' Syndicate in Egypt against both media figure Mohamed El Desouki Rushdi and media personality Yasmin El Khatib, accusing them of insulting her, defaming her, and intruding into her private life, in addition to what she described as undermining her media professionalism.
The content of the complaints stated that Said had been subjected to media violations that she considered offensive to her and her professional status, noting that what was presented through the two programs included phrases that touched on her personal life and questioned her professionalism, which prompted her to resort to the syndicate as the competent authority for regulating media practice and setting its standards.
Riham Said requested the syndicate to examine what was stated in the complaints and take appropriate action according to the regulations governing media work, emphasizing that what she experienced exceeds the limits of professional criticism and falls within the scope of defamation and slander, which, according to her description, necessitates intervention to ensure respect for the rules of the profession and protect those working in it.
The Journalists' Syndicate handles the complaints received through a series of procedures that include investigating the facts and listening to the concerned parties before issuing its decision, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to present their defenses according to the legal and professional frameworks in place.
The syndicate, headed by Dr. Tarek Saada, reaffirms its ongoing commitment to the media code of honor and the professional conduct guidelines, stressing the necessity of respecting private life and not dragging it into the context of criticism or media coverage, while simultaneously maintaining the media's right to perform its role responsibly and with discipline.
Riham Said's complaint comes in the context of recurring cases that the syndicate reviews to ensure that professional boundaries are not exceeded and to promote a media environment that respects the rules and prevents slipping into defamation or personal insults.
