The police imposed a tight security cordon around the site, while removal teams continued to clear the rubble amidst complete ambiguity surrounding the causes of the fire. The relevant authorities opened an urgent and immediate investigation to unravel the incident, determine the actual source of the initial spark, and work to trace all leads to rule out or confirm any criminal suspicion behind this hell.
As the investigations began, health authorities dropped a bombshell that added more mystery and suspicion to the disaster, revealing in official reports that the stricken nursing home was not far from violations and dark issues:
- Previous operational violations: The home had been committing serious administrative and technical violations.
- Procedures and fines: Authorities had imposed financial and administrative penalties on the home for years.
