حسم الملك تشارلز -وفقاً لما نقلته هيئة الإذاعة البريطانية «بي.بي.سي» ووسائل إعلام بريطانية- وضع ابنه الأصغر الأمير هاري وزوجته ميغان داخل العائلة المالكة، مؤكداً استمرار تصنيفهما ضمن أفراد العائلة غير المكلفين بمهام ملكية رسمية.
وأفادت التقارير، اليوم (الإثنين)، بأن الملك أذِن بتوجيه رسالة إلى كبار المسؤولين البريطانيين لتأكيد هذا الوضع، موضحة أن هاري وميغان سيعاملان -من حيث أنشطتهما التجارية والخيرية- على نحو مماثل للمواطنين العاديين.
وجاء في الرسالة، بحسب ما أوردته التقارير: «باختصار، فإن وضعهما يشبه وضع المواطنين العاديين الذين لديهم مصالح تجارية وخيرية».
ويأتي ذلك بعد عودة الأمير هاري مع عائلته إلى بريطانيا أواخر الشهر الماضي، بعد ستّ سنوات من تخليه وزوجته عن المهام الملكية الرسمية وانتقالهما إلى الولايات المتحدة.
وكان الزوجان قد أعلنا في 2020 انسحابهما من الحياة الملكية الرسمية، سعياً إلى بناء مسار مهني مستقل، قبل أن يواصلا الظهور في دائرة الاهتمام الإعلامي، في ظل الخلافات التي أثيرت خلال السنوات الماضية بشأن علاقتهما بالعائلة المالكة ووسائل الإعلام البريطانية وقضايا الحماية الأمنية.
King Charles has decided -according to reports from the BBC and British media- the status of his younger son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan within the royal family, confirming that they will continue to be classified as non-working members of the family.
Reports today (Monday) indicated that the king has authorized a message to senior British officials to confirm this status, clarifying that Harry and Meghan will be treated -in terms of their business and charitable activities- similarly to ordinary citizens.
The message stated, according to the reports: "In short, their status is akin to that of ordinary citizens who have business and charitable interests."
This comes after Prince Harry returned to Britain with his family at the end of last month, after six years of stepping back from official royal duties and moving to the United States.
The couple announced in 2020 their withdrawal from official royal life, seeking to build an independent career path, before continuing to appear in the media spotlight amid the controversies that have arisen over the past years regarding their relationship with the royal family, the British media, and security issues.
