في واقعة وصفها مسؤولون بأنها «معجزة»، تمكنت فرق الإنقاذ في نيبال، اليوم (الجمعة)، من إخراج عاملين على قيد الحياة من نفق «تريشولي 3 أ»، بعد بقائهما محاصرين داخله لمدة تسعة أيام إثر الفيضانات التي ضربت البلاد الشهر الماضي.
وأكد المتحدث باسم الجيش النيبالي، العميد راجا رام باسينت، إنقاذ أول عامل، قبل أن يعلن عضو البرلمان شري رام نيوباني عبر صفحته على «فيسبوك» نجاح فرق الإنقاذ في إخراج العامل الثاني.
وأوضح المسؤولون أن الناجيين يعملان رئيسَ عمال ميكانيكيًا ومشرفًا ميكانيكيًا، وأنهما يخضعان للمراقبة الطبية بعد إخراجهما من النفق.
وجاءت عملية الإنقاذ بعد الفيضانات التي اجتاحت مناطق واسعة من نيبال في 26 أغسطس الماضي، ويرجح أن تكون ناجمة عن انهيار جليدي، ما أسفر عن أضرار واسعة في البلدات والوديان والبنية التحتية.
وأظهرت لقطات بثتها وسائل إعلام محلية العامل الأول أثناء إخراجه من موقع النفق، وهو مغطى بالطين ويحمله أحد أفراد فرق الإنقاذ على كتفه.
وفي سياق متصل، قدرت السلطات النيبالية حجم الخسائر الناجمة عن الفيضانات في الممتلكات والمساكن والبنية التحتية بما لا يقل عن 387.5 مليار روبية نيبالية (نحو 2.56 مليار دولار).
وقال رئيس الهيئة الوطنية للحد من مخاطر الكوارث وإدارتها، دارما راج أوبريتي، إن أعمال التعافي المبكر خلال الأشهر الأربعة الأولى، بما تشمل إعادة تأهيل الطرق وإنشاء الملاجئ المؤقتة وتوفير مياه الشرب وإعادة التيار الكهربائي، ستتطلب نحو 52.6 مليون دولار.
وأضاف أن هذه الأرقام تقديرية، موضحًا أن تقييمًا أكثر تفصيلًا للخسائر سيُجرى خلال الفترة القادمة.
وأشار أوبريتي إلى أن الفيضانات دمرت بالكامل ما لا يقل عن 7500 منزل، فيما تحتاج المناطق المتضررة إلى إعادة بناء نحو 20 ألف منزل.
In an incident described by officials as a "miracle," rescue teams in Nepal were able to extract two workers alive from the "Trishuli 3 A" tunnel today (Friday), after they had been trapped inside for nine days due to the floods that hit the country last month.
The spokesperson for the Nepali army, Colonel Raja Ram Basnet, confirmed the rescue of the first worker, before announcing that Member of Parliament Shree Ram Neupane had declared via his Facebook page the successful extraction of the second worker by the rescue teams.
Officials explained that the survivors work as a chief mechanic and a mechanical supervisor, and that they are undergoing medical observation after being pulled from the tunnel.
The rescue operation came after floods swept through large areas of Nepal on August 26, likely caused by a landslide, resulting in extensive damage to towns, valleys, and infrastructure.
Footage broadcast by local media showed the first worker being pulled from the tunnel site, covered in mud and carried on the shoulder of a rescue team member.
In a related context, Nepali authorities estimated the losses caused by the floods to properties, homes, and infrastructure at no less than 387.5 billion Nepali rupees (about 2.56 billion dollars).
The head of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Dharma Raj Upreti, stated that early recovery efforts over the first four months, including road rehabilitation, temporary shelter construction, provision of drinking water, and restoration of electricity, will require about 52.6 million dollars.
He added that these figures are estimates, clarifying that a more detailed assessment of the damages will be conducted in the coming period.
Upreti noted that the floods completely destroyed at least 7,500 homes, while the affected areas need to rebuild around 20,000 homes.
