تحوّل منزل أخضر صغير في مقاطعة باغماتي بنيبال إلى رمز للنجاة بعد أن صمد أمام السيول الجارفة التي اجتاحت المنطقة الحدودية بين نيبال والتيبت، في كارثة خلّفت دمارًا واسعًا ومئات الضحايا.
وأظهرت مشاهد مصوّرة المنزل محاطًا بتيارات مائية هائجة حملت معها الطين والصخور والركام، بينما ظهر أفراد من العائلة التي تقطنه واقفين على شرفته في لحظات حرجة، قبل أن تنجح فرق الإنقاذ في الوصول إليهم وإجلائهم سالمين.
ورغم أن المياه حاصرت المبنى من كل جانب، فإن صموده اللافت جعل منه ملاذًا مؤقتًا للعائلة خلال ذروة الفيضانات، في وقت كانت فيه فرق الطوارئ تكافح للوصول إلى المناطق المتضررة. ومع انتشار المشاهد على نطاق واسع، أطلق مستخدمو مواقع التواصل وصف (المنزل المعجزة) على المبنى الذي بقي واقفًا بينما انهارت مبانٍ مجاورة تحت قوة السيول.
وجاءت هذه القصة الإنسانية في أعقاب فيضانات مدمرة نجمت عن انهيار جليدي ضخم أدى إلى تدفق كميات هائلة من المياه والصخور نحو مجرى نهر ليندي خولا، وصولًا إلى المناطق الواقعة في المصب. وأسفرت الكارثة عن مقتل 538 شخصًا في نيبال وخمسة في منطقة التبت الصينية، فيما لا يزال ما يقرب من ألف شخص في عداد المفقودين، بينما تواصل فرق الإنقاذ عمليات البحث في القرى المتضررة وسط مخاوف من تشكّل بحيرات جديدة قد تزيد من خطورة الوضع.
وبينما تتصدر أرقام الضحايا والمفقودين المشهد، بقي المنزل الأخضر قصة استثنائية وسط الدمار، بعدما وفر لعائلة محاصرة فرصة للبقاء على قيد الحياة حتى وصول فرق الإنقاذ.
A small green house in the Bagmati Province of Nepal has become a symbol of survival after it withstood the raging floods that swept through the border area between Nepal and Tibet, in a disaster that left widespread destruction and hundreds of victims.
Footage showed the house surrounded by turbulent waters carrying mud, rocks, and debris, while members of the family living there were seen standing on its porch during critical moments, before rescue teams managed to reach them and evacuate them safely.
Although the waters surrounded the building on all sides, its remarkable resilience made it a temporary refuge for the family during the peak of the floods, at a time when emergency teams were struggling to reach the affected areas. As the footage spread widely, social media users dubbed the building the "miracle house," which remained standing while neighboring buildings collapsed under the force of the floods.
This human story came in the wake of devastating floods caused by a massive avalanche that led to the flow of huge amounts of water and rocks toward the Lindy Khola riverbed, reaching the areas downstream. The disaster resulted in the deaths of 538 people in Nepal and five in the Chinese Tibet region, while nearly a thousand people remain missing, as rescue teams continue their search in the affected villages amid fears of new lakes forming that could exacerbate the situation.
While the numbers of victims and missing persons dominate the scene, the green house remains an extraordinary story amidst the destruction, having provided a trapped family with a chance to survive until the arrival of rescue teams.
