لقي 3 منقبين عن الذهب مصرعهم إثر انهيار بئر منجمية يبلغ عمقها 20 مترًا في مدينة موتاري الواقعة شرق زيمبابوي بالقرب من الحدود مع موزمبيق.
وأكد المتحدث باسم الشرطة في زيمبابوي بول نياتي في تصريح اليوم أن 3 منقبين عن الذهب لقوا حتفهم عندما انهارت بئر منجمية يبلغ عمقها نحو 20 مترًا أثناء عملهم داخلها.
وتأتي هذه الوفيات الجديدة لتفاقم حصيلة الحوادث في قطاع التعدين الحرفي والتعدين صغير النطاق في زيمبابوي، حيث لا تزال انهيارات الآبار والسقوط وممارسات التعدين الخطرة الأخرى تشكل مصدر قلق كبير.
ويسهم قطاع التعدين عمومًا بنحو 12% من الناتج المحلي الإجمالي للبلاد، فيما يشكل التعدين الحرفي محركه الرئيسي على أرض الواقع، إذ يعمل ما بين 500 ألف ومليون ونصف المليون شخص مباشرةً في مواقع التعدين.
Three gold miners lost their lives after a mining well collapsed, reaching a depth of 20 meters in the city of Mutare, located in eastern Zimbabwe near the border with Mozambique.
The spokesperson for the police in Zimbabwe, Paul Nyati, confirmed in a statement today that three gold miners died when a mining well, approximately 20 meters deep, collapsed while they were working inside it.
These new fatalities add to the growing toll of accidents in the artisanal and small-scale mining sector in Zimbabwe, where well collapses, falls, and other hazardous mining practices continue to pose a significant concern.
The mining sector generally contributes about 12% to the country's GDP, with artisanal mining being its main driver on the ground, employing between 500,000 and 1.5 million people directly in mining sites.
