قُتل طالبان، أحدهما مطلق النار، في حادثة إطلاق نار وقع صباح اليوم (الثلاثاء)، داخل مدرسة ثانوية في مدينة زامبوانغا (جنوبي الفلبين)، فيما أعلنت السلطات السيطرة على الموقف، في ثاني حادثة إطلاق نار داخل مدرسة تشهدها البلاد خلال أقل من شهرين.
وأمر الرئيس الفلبيني فرديناند ماركوس الابن أجهزة إنفاذ القانون بفتح تحقيق شامل في ملابسات الحادثة، وتحديد الإجراءات اللازمة لمنع وقوع أعمال عنف مماثلة داخل المدارس. وقال ماركوس في بيان: «مدارسنا هي الأماكن التي نأتمن فيها على أطفالنا ليتعلموا وينموا ويحلموا بحياتهم المقبلة، ويجب أن تكون أيضًا من بين أكثر الأماكن أمانًا في بلادنا».
طالب يفتح النار داخل الفصل
ووقع إطلاق النار في مدرسة تابعة لجامعة أتينيو دي زامبوانغا الخاصة بمدينة زامبوانغا، بعدما تمكّن الطالب المشتبه في إطلاق النار من إدخال مسدس وبندقية إلى حرم المدرسة، قبل أن يطلق النار على طلاب داخل أحد الفصول؛ وفقًا لتقرير أولي للشرطة.
وأظهرت لقطات بثتها شبكة (GMA News)، مع طمس بعض تفاصيل الصور، حالة من الفوضى داخل الفصل، فيما احتمى الطلاب تحت الطاولات وفي أماكن مختلفة مع سماع دوي عدة طلقات.
وأعلنت الشرطة أن الضحية طالب في الصف العاشر، بينما كان مطلق النار طالبًا في الصف التاسع، وقد أقدم على الانتحار عقب تنفيذ الهجوم، كما أسفر إطلاق النار عن إصابة شخصين آخرين؛ وفق السلطات.
ثاني حادثة إطلاق نار مدرسي خلال أقل من شهرين
وتأتي الحادثة الجديدة بعد هجوم وقع في يونيو الماضي داخل مدرسة ثانوية حكومية بمدينة تاكلوبان وسط الفلبين، عندما فتح اثنان من الطلاب النار داخل حرم المدرسة، ما أسفر عن مقتل ثلاثة طلاب على الأقل وإصابة نحو 20 آخرين.
وتُعد حوادث إطلاق النار داخل المدارس نادرة نسبيًا في الفلبين، التي تطبق قواعد صارمة نسبيًا على حيازة الأسلحة؛ من بينها إجراءات للتحقق من خلفيات المتقدمين واشتراطات تتعلق بالتقييم النفسي.
ومع ذلك، لا تزال الأسلحة النارية غير القانونية منتشرة في البلاد، ما يمثل تحديًا أمام جهود السلطات للحد من العنف المسلح.
أولياء الأمور يتجمّعون أمام المدرسة
وأظهرت لقطات بثتها قناة (ANC) تجمع عدد من الطلاب وأولياء الأمور أمام بوابات المدرسة، وسط انتشار لعناصر من الشرطة وقوات الجيش المسلحين، كما وصلت فرق التحقيق الجنائي إلى موقع الحادث لجمع الأدلة وفحص مسرح الجريمة.
وتقع المدرسة في مبنى مكون من خمسة طوابق داخل حرم تبلغ مساحته نحو ثمانية هكتارات، ويضم منشآت مخصصة لطلاب المرحلة الابتدائية والمرحلة الإعدادية التابعة للجامعة، بحسب الموقع الإلكتروني للمؤسسة التعليمية.
حادثة مماثلة في تايلند
ووقع إطلاق النار في الفلبين بعد أقل من عشرة أيام على حادثة بارزة في تايلند، حيث أقدم طالب على إطلاق النار بشكل عشوائي داخل مدرسة تقع في ضواحي العاصمة بانكوك.
Two students were killed, one of them the shooter, in a shooting incident that occurred this morning (Tuesday) inside a high school in Zamboanga City (southern Philippines), while authorities announced that the situation was under control, marking the second school shooting incident in the country in less than two months.
The Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident and to determine the necessary measures to prevent similar acts of violence in schools. Marcos stated in a statement: "Our schools are the places where we entrust our children to learn, grow, and dream of their future lives, and they must also be among the safest places in our country."
Student Opens Fire Inside Classroom
The shooting occurred at a school affiliated with Ateneo de Zamboanga University in Zamboanga City, after the suspected shooter managed to bring a handgun and a rifle onto the school campus before opening fire on students inside one of the classrooms, according to an initial police report.
Footage broadcast by GMA News, with some details blurred, showed chaos inside the classroom, as students took cover under desks and in various places while several gunshots were heard.
The police announced that the victim was a tenth-grade student, while the shooter was a ninth-grade student who committed suicide after carrying out the attack. The shooting also resulted in the injury of two other individuals, according to authorities.
Second School Shooting Incident in Less Than Two Months
This new incident follows an attack that occurred last June inside a public high school in Tacloban City in central Philippines, when two students opened fire inside the school campus, resulting in the deaths of at least three students and injuring around 20 others.
School shootings are relatively rare in the Philippines, which has relatively strict rules on gun ownership, including background checks for applicants and requirements related to psychological evaluations.
However, illegal firearms remain widespread in the country, posing a challenge to authorities' efforts to curb armed violence.
Parents Gather Outside the School
Footage aired by ANC showed a number of students and parents gathering outside the school gates, amid the presence of armed police and military personnel, while forensic investigation teams arrived at the scene to collect evidence and examine the crime scene.
The school is located in a five-story building within a campus that covers an area of about eight hectares and includes facilities for elementary and junior high school students affiliated with the university, according to the educational institution's website.
Similar Incident in Thailand
The shooting in the Philippines occurred less than ten days after a prominent incident in Thailand, where a student opened fire randomly inside a school located in the suburbs of Bangkok.
