لقي ما لا يقل عن 15 شخصًا مصرعهم بسبب الفيضانات والانهيارات الأرضية المصاحبة للإعصارين المداريين «لويس» و«مايماي» في الفلبين، بعد مرور أكثر من أسبوع على هطول أمطار غزيرة، حسبما قالت الشرطة اليوم.
وأوضحت السلطات الفلبينية عن إصابة 13 شخصًا، و6 مفقودين، وذلك في ظل استمرار هبوب عدة عواصف استوائية ورياح موسمية بجنوب غرب البلاد مما أدى لهطول أمطار غزيرة.
وذكرت أنه تم تسجيل حالات الوفاة في أقاليم بينجوت وريزال وباتانجاس على جزيرة لوزون الرئيسية، مشيرة إلى تضرر أكثر من 750 ألف شخص واضطر أكثر من 8000 شخص للجوء إلى مراكز إخلاء.
من جانبها، توقعت هيئة الأرصاد الجوية الفلبينية استمرار هطول الأمطار الموسمية الغزيرة على مساحات واسعة من البلاد هذا الأسبوع، وحذرت من استمرار خطر الانهيارات الأرضية في المناطق التي شهدت هطول أمطار غزيرة خلال الأيام القليلة الماضية.
At least 15 people have died due to floods and landslides associated with the tropical storms "Luis" and "Maimai" in the Philippines, following more than a week of heavy rainfall, police said today.
The Philippine authorities reported that 13 people were injured, and 6 are missing, as several tropical storms and monsoon winds continue to sweep across the southwestern part of the country, resulting in heavy rainfall.
It was noted that the fatalities were recorded in the provinces of Benguet, Rizal, and Batangas on the main island of Luzon, with more than 750,000 people affected and over 8,000 people forced to seek refuge in evacuation centers.
For its part, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) predicted that heavy monsoon rains would continue over wide areas of the country this week, warning of the ongoing risk of landslides in areas that have experienced heavy rainfall in the past few days.
