تسببت مستويات النشاط البركاني العالية في جبل «إتنا» بإيطاليا، في تعطيل الرحلات الجوية بمطار كاتانيا في صقلية، اليوم، بحسب ما أعلنته الشركة المشغلة للمطار.
وبحسب المعهد الوطني للجيوفيزياء وعلوم البراكين، أن البركان هو الأكثر نشاطًا في أوروبا، حيث تتدفق منه الحمم البركانية الكثيفة وقطع الصخور المتوهجة من فوهتين على ارتفاع 2360 مترًا و2750 مترًا.
يذكر أن جبل «إتنا»، الذي يزيد ارتفاعه على 3300 متر، عادة ما يثور بانتظام ويخضع لمراقبة مستمرة.
High levels of volcanic activity at Mount "Etna" in Italy have disrupted flights at Catania Airport in Sicily today, according to the airport's operating company.
According to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, the volcano is the most active in Europe, with dense lava flows and glowing rock fragments erupting from two craters at altitudes of 2360 meters and 2750 meters.
