أثارت صورة التقطت في مقاطعة ألبرتا الكندية موجة واسعة من الجدل على الإنترنت، بعدما ظهرت فيها سحابة تحمل تشكيلًا بيضاويًا مضيئًا يشبه صحنًا طائرًا مختبئًا داخلها.
ونُشرت الصورة عبر مجموعة متخصصة بتصوير السحب على منصة (فيسبوك)، لتتحول سريعًا إلى مادة نقاش بين المهتمين بالظواهر الجوية والباحثين في الأجسام الطائرة غير المحددة.
وانقسم المتابعون بين من رأى أن المشهد لا يتجاوز كونه سحابة عدسية نادرة تتشكل عادة فوق المناطق الجبلية، وبين من اعتبره دليلًا جديدًا على وجود جسم طائر غير محدد. ويقع في وسط التشكيل شكل بيضاوي داكن، زعم الباحث المتخصص في الأجسام الطائرة سكوت سي وارينغ أنه «قرص فضائي صنع السحابة عمدًا ليختبئ داخلها أثناء التحليق على علو منخفض»، مؤكّدًا أنه زاد تباين الصورة لكشف معالم الجسم.
وادّعى وارينغ أن الكائنات الفضائية تستخدم السحب كغطاء لإخفاء مركباتها، بل وتستعملها -بحسب قوله- لاستشعار أفكار البشر، وهي تقنية يزعم أنها تُمارس منذ ملايين السنين. ورغم انتشار هذه النظريات في مجتمعات المهتمين بالـUFO، فإن خبراء الأرصاد الجوية يشيرون إلى أن السحب العدسية ظاهرة طبيعية شائعة فوق المناطق الجبلية، وتتشكل بفعل الرياح القوية التي تدفع الهواء إلى طبقات عليا، ما ينتج هياكل بيضاوية ناعمة كثيرًا ما تُفسَّر خطأً على أنها أجسام طائرة.
وزاد الجدل بعد أن أظهر الفحص التقني للصورة أنها لا تحمل أي بيانات تعريفية للكاميرا، مثل تاريخ الالتقاط أو الموقع الجغرافي أو نوع الجهاز، إضافة إلى أن تنسيق الملف (PNG) يرجّح تعرضها للتعديل بعد التقاطها، ما يضع علامات استفهام حول مصداقيتها التقنية.
ويرى خبراء التصوير الرقمي أن غياب البيانات التعريفية قد يشير إلى أن الصورة جرى تمريرها عبر برامج تحرير، أو أنها نُقلت من جهاز لآخر بطريقة أزالت بياناتها الأصلية. كما أن انتشار تقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي القادرة على توليد صور واقعية للغاية يزيد من احتمالية أن تكون الصورة معدّلة أو مركّبة.
ورغم ذلك، يصرّ بعض المهتمين بالظواهر الغامضة على أن التشكيل يحمل «ملامح غير طبيعية»، بينما يؤكد علماء الأرصاد أن الظاهرة لا تتجاوز كونها سحابة عدسية مع طبقة مظلمة في الوسط ناتجة عن ظل أو اختلاف في كثافة السحب.
وتستمر الصورة في إثارة النقاش عبر منصات التواصل، بين من يرى فيها لغزًا جديدًا، ومن يعتبرها مثالًا على كيفية تضخيم الظواهر الطبيعية في عصر الذكاء الاصطناعي والتزييف البصري.
A photo taken in Alberta, Canada, has sparked widespread controversy online after it showed a cloud with a glowing oval shape that resembles a flying saucer hiding within it.
The photo was published through a group specialized in cloud photography on the (Facebook) platform, quickly turning into a topic of discussion among those interested in meteorological phenomena and researchers of unidentified flying objects.
Followers were divided between those who believed the scene was merely a rare lenticular cloud typically formed over mountainous areas, and those who considered it new evidence of an unidentified flying object. In the center of the formation is a dark oval shape, which UFO researcher Scott C. Waring claimed is a "space disk that created the cloud intentionally to hide inside it while flying at a low altitude," asserting that he enhanced the contrast of the image to reveal the features of the object.
Waring claimed that aliens use clouds as cover to hide their crafts, and even use them - according to him - to sense human thoughts, a technique he alleges has been practiced for millions of years. Despite the spread of these theories in UFO enthusiast communities, meteorology experts point out that lenticular clouds are a common natural phenomenon over mountainous regions, formed by strong winds pushing air to higher layers, resulting in smooth oval structures that are often mistakenly interpreted as flying objects.
The controversy intensified after a technical examination of the image showed that it contained no identifying data from the camera, such as the date of capture, geographical location, or device type, in addition to the fact that the file format (PNG) suggests it may have been altered after being taken, raising questions about its technical credibility.
Digital photography experts believe that the absence of metadata may indicate that the image was processed through editing software, or that it was transferred from one device to another in a way that removed its original data. Additionally, the proliferation of artificial intelligence technologies capable of generating highly realistic images increases the likelihood that the photo is modified or composite.
Nevertheless, some enthusiasts of mysterious phenomena insist that the formation bears "unnatural features," while meteorologists confirm that the phenomenon is nothing more than a lenticular cloud with a dark layer in the middle caused by shadow or differences in cloud density.
The image continues to provoke discussion across social media platforms, with some viewing it as a new mystery, while others consider it an example of how natural phenomena are exaggerated in the age of artificial intelligence and visual deception.
