هزت محافظة الديوانية جنوبي العراق فضيحة مدوية بعد صدور قرار قضائي بحبس أربعة من عناصر الشرطة، بينهم ضابط برتبة نقيب، على ذمة التحقيق إثر اتهامهم بالاعتداء الجنسي المتكرر على موقوفة في السابعة والعشرين من عمرها داخل مركز شرطة النهضة. وتعود تفاصيل الواقعة إلى ليلة الثالث والعشرين من يوليو الماضي، حين أُخرجت الضحية من زنزانتها متأخرة إلى غرفة ملحقة بالمركز ليتعرض لها الجناة، في جريمة حاول أحدهم طمس معالمها بالادعاء بأن كاميرات المراقبة كانت معطلة لساعتين، قبل أن تكشف التحريات حقيقة الفعل المخزي. وفي السياق، أكد وكيل وزارة الداخلية حسين العوادي أن الوزارة تعاملت مع الملف باستقلالية تامة رافضة أي تهاون يمس الكرامة الإنسانية، بينما أوضحت قيادة شرطة الديوانية إحالة المتهمين وفق قانون قوى الأمن الداخلي للقضاء، وسط متابعة ميدانية من المفوضية العليا لحقوق الإنسان التي وثقت أقوال الضحية واطلعت على وضعها الصحي والنفسي.

The Diwaniya Governorate in southern Iraq was shaken by a scandal after a judicial decision was issued to imprison four police officers, including an officer with the rank of captain, pending investigation following accusations of repeated sexual assault on a detainee aged twenty-seven inside the Al-Nahda police station. The details of the incident date back to the night of July 23rd of last month, when the victim was taken out of her cell late to an annexed room in the station where the perpetrators assaulted her, in a crime that one of them attempted to cover up by claiming that the surveillance cameras were out of order for two hours, before investigations revealed the shameful act. In this context, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Hussein Al-Awadi, confirmed that the ministry handled the case with complete independence, rejecting any leniency that affects human dignity, while the Diwaniya Police Command clarified that the accused were referred to the judiciary according to the Internal Security Forces Law, with field monitoring from the High Commission for Human Rights, which documented the victim's statements and reviewed her health and psychological condition.
