كانت عادة يومية بسيطة لشراء قطعة خبز سبباً رئيسياً في إنقاذ روحين من الموت خلف باب مغلق! ففي مدينة «شباير» الهادئة غرب ألمانيا، لم يكن أثر غياب الزوجين المسنّين (71 و72 عاماً) ليلفت انتباه أحد، لولا امرأة واحدة: صاحبة المخبز التي لاحظت اختفاؤهما المفاجئ ليومين متتاليين عن المخبز، لم يمر ذلك بالنسبة لها كـ«زبائن عاديين»، بل أشعل في قلبها شرارة قلق لم تستطع إطفاءها.
لم تنتظر الخبازة أو تفترض أنهما في رحلة سريعة، وقررت الذهاب بنفسها إلى شقتهما. وعندما وضعت أذنها على الباب وطرقته بخوف، جاءها الرد الذي أرسل القشعريرة في جسدها: صرخات استغاثة خافتة جداً ومختنقة تصدر من الداخل.
- الكابوس داخل الشقة: عند اقتحام فرق الطوارئ المكان بناءً على بلاغها العاجل، عُثر على الزوجين ملقيَيْن على الأرض تماماً، عاجزين عن الحركة منذ نحو 3 أيام كاملة.
- اللحظة الأخيرة: قدم الإسعاف العناية الأولية فوراً قبل نقلهما للمستشفى، في حالة صحية حرجة كان يمكن أن تنتهي بفاجعة لو مرت ساعات قليلة أخرى.
لم تجد الشرطة الألمانية وصفاً لما حدث سوى أن «يقظة المرأة وحسها الإنساني الغريب كسبا سباقاً مع الموت»، لتتحول تلك الخبازة البسيطة إلى بطلة الشارع الألمانية في ليلة وضحاها.
A simple daily habit of buying a loaf of bread became a major reason for saving two lives from death behind a closed door! In the quiet town of "Speyer" in western Germany, the absence of the elderly couple (71 and 72 years old) would not have caught anyone's attention, were it not for one woman: the baker, who noticed their sudden disappearance for two consecutive days from the bakery. This did not pass for her as "ordinary customers," but ignited a spark of concern in her heart that she could not extinguish.
The baker did not wait or assume that they were on a quick trip; she decided to go to their apartment herself. When she put her ear to the door and knocked fearfully, she received a response that sent chills down her spine: very faint and choked cries for help coming from inside.
- The nightmare inside the apartment: When emergency teams stormed the place based on her urgent report, they found the couple lying on the floor, unable to move for about three full days.
- The last moment: Paramedics provided immediate first aid before transporting them to the hospital, in a critical health condition that could have ended in tragedy had a few more hours passed.
The German police found no description of what happened other than that "the woman's vigilance and her strange human instinct won the race against death," turning that simple baker into a street hero in Germany overnight.
