ضرب زلزال بقوة 5.5 درجات على مقياس ريختر، منطقة سكوينتنا في ولاية ألاسكا الأمريكية.
وذكرت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية اليوم أن الزلزال وقع على عمق 200 متر، فيما لم ترد حتى الآن أي تقارير عن وقوع خسائر بشرية أو أضرار مادية. وتقع ألاسكا فوق حزام النار بالمحيط الهادئ، وهي منطقة التقاء صفائح تكتونية يؤدي احتكاكها ببعضها البعض إلى نشاط زلزالي وبركاني قوي.
A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck the town of Skwentna in the state of Alaska, USA.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported today that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 200 meters, and there have been no reports so far of any casualties or material damage. Alaska is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area where tectonic plates meet, leading to strong seismic and volcanic activity due to their friction with one another.
