بعد 38 يوماً من اختفائه، أعلنت فرق الإنقاذ الإيطالية، الثلاثاء، العثور على جثمان لويجي كافالاري، زوج وزيرة الأسرة أوجينيا روتشيلا، في بحيرة (فيكو) شمالي روما، منهيةً بذلك أسابيع من البحث المتواصل.
وأوضحت السلطات أن غواصين تمكنوا من انتشال الجثمان من عمق يناهز 18 متراً، وعلى مسافة تقارب كيلومتراً من الموقع الذي اختفى فيه في 27 يونيو الماضي.
وكان كافالاري، البالغ 84 عاماً، قد قفز إلى المياه من قارب صغير كان يستقله برفقة زوجته، قبل أن يختفي فجأة بعد أن قال إنه يشعر بتوعك، بينما ابتعد القارب غير المثبت عن مكانه. وأطلقت السلطات عملية بحث واسعة شاركت فيها فرق من الشرطة والإطفاء، واستخدمت خلالها أجهزة السونار وكاميرات ومركبات آلية يتم التحكم بها عن بُعد، وسط صعوبات كبيرة ناجمة عن ضعف الرؤية تحت الماء.
وقالت الوزيرة روتشيلا إن العثور على جثمان زوجها وضع نهاية لـ«فترة مأساوية من الانتظار»، معربةً عن تقديرها لجهود فرق الطوارئ التي واصلت عمليات البحث طوال الأسابيع الماضية.
وتُعد روتشيلا، البالغة 72 عاماً، وزيرة الأسرة والمساواة وتكافؤ الفرص، وعضواً في حزب «إخوة إيطاليا» الذي تتزعمه رئيسة الوزراء جورجا ميلوني.
After 38 days of his disappearance, Italian rescue teams announced on Tuesday that they had found the body of Luigi Cavallari, the husband of Family Minister Eugenia Roccella, in Lake Vico, north of Rome, thus ending weeks of continuous searching.
The authorities explained that divers were able to retrieve the body from a depth of nearly 18 meters, about a kilometer from the site where he disappeared on June 27.
Cavallari, who was 84 years old, had jumped into the water from a small boat he was in with his wife, before suddenly disappearing after saying he felt unwell, while the unmoored boat drifted away. The authorities launched a wide-ranging search operation involving teams from the police and fire department, using sonar devices, cameras, and remotely operated vehicles, amid significant difficulties due to poor visibility underwater.
Minister Roccella stated that finding her husband's body brought an end to a "tragic period of waiting," expressing her appreciation for the efforts of the emergency teams that continued search operations throughout the past weeks.
Roccella, who is 72 years old, is the Minister of Family, Equality, and Equal Opportunities, and a member of the "Brothers of Italy" party led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
